The one by the entrance on the west side entrance seems to have violently torn off!

I take an Uber every Tuesday morning at 5 AM. Usually a few cars floating around but there was that one time when there was only one car and it took a long time (and had to pay surge price). Really was sweating it!

Anybody want to carpool with me this Tuesday at 5/515?

Can the posters on this thread tell me what mover they used? I'm looking for a referral.

Has anyone seen a Bronco or Seahawk (outside of the hotel)?

Just curious whether there have been any sitings of players going out for a drink in their host city. Surely, some of them are wondering a bit about the community around the hotel?

Thanks all. Anyone have any experience with T-Mobile a bit outside of JC - In central NJ, Westchester?

If anyone else has thoughts on coverage within JC, I'm still interested, so please weigh in!

Thanks a bunch.

OP Here: I am specifically interested in feedback from folks who live in Hamilton Park or nearby downtown areas: Harsimus Cove, VVP, etc.

Could a few more people weigh in with feedback on T-Mobile service? I have AT&T, but am seriously thinking of switching to T-Mobile's far more economical plan which doesn't charge customers the "device subsidy."

they charge only for minutes + date + msg. You can bring your own device or choose to pay them over time and walk away at any time.

Re: Bike JC's 4th Annual Jersey City Ward Tour + Festival

My wife and I really enjoyed riding the tour this year. We're longtime Jersey City residents, and this was our third bike tour. We felt that BikeJC did a great job of organizing the ride, but have a bit of feedback.

The JCPD on motorcycles were "leapfrogging" in order to clear intersections. This seemed to work very well, but each time one of the patrolmen rode by in order to "leap" the mass of riders, they blared their sirens. The patrolmen often blared the sirens when it seemed there were no cyclists blocking, or that could potentially stray into their path, so it just seemed unnecessary, and out of step with what would otherwise have been a relaxing ride through J.C.

The heavy metal band at Exchange Place was amplified way too loud. My wife and I couldn't hear each other speaking, and it was impossible to have a relaxing beer after a long ride. I asked the fellow working the soundstage if he could turn down the volume a bit, but was politely dismissed. We would have loved to stay, but decided to leave.

I would like to hire a local tennis pro and take lessons in Hamilton Park. Does anyone have the name of someone? Preferably someone who works with extreme beginners? Thanks.

Several cars and large car carriers on Coles between 16th and 17th back in Nov.

Does anyone know what all of those car carriers (large trucks that carry several cars) were doing on Coles St between 16th and 17th st about 4-6 weeks ago? Sorry, this query is a bit dated, but I drove by every evening and have been wondering this for a long time...Perhaps it had something to do with Sandy? Were these disabled cars from Hoboken?

Oops, I meant to write that ceiling height is only about 12' - 13' so ladder wouldn't have to be quite so tall! Thanks and any leads would be much appreciated.

Seeking House Painter Recommendation

Requirements:
I would like to hire someone who does the work directly, i.e. not working as a subcontractor. High quality work, and since it is for a loft, he must own a long ladder (ceiling height is about 16').

Preferences
I will be providing the paint and rollers and would prefer that the painter bring all of his own supplies (rods, tarp, sheets, etc.)

I can help out with moving furniture, so can be an individual and not necessarily a crew. Would appreciate feedback and recommendations. Job is in downtown. Thank you.

Glass Door Company Recommendation

I would like to have a shower door installed, probably along the lines of a high-end "frameless." These tend to be fairly expensive and custom sized, so not something that your average handyman will do. Have any of you renovators had one of these installed? Kindly provide a recommendation. Thanks.

I live in Hamilton Park and haven't seen any around here. Does anyone have a recommendation for an adult orthodontist (fine if s/he works on teens of course)? Preferably in the new Liberty Health complex or Newport area. Thanks!

Is there a Chaat Wala in Newport?

Gorgeous day outside. I'd love to have some chaat by the waterfront. I live in Hamilton Park and am stranded home today (flooding on roads, etc.), so don't ever go there otherwise.

I know about Raaz -- do they do wallet-friendly take-out chaat? Am willing to go over to Exchange Place as well. Just don't want to go all the way to JSQ where I know there are plenty of options. Thanks!

Fracas in Hamilton Park dog run this past Sunday

From afar, I heard several dogs barking, saw a cloud of dust, then a few dog owners really going at it for a while. One claimed to have been bit by someone else's dog. The police and an ambulance showed up. Does anyone know the full story?

Call me cynical, but I suspect that the scheduling of the park opening ceremony in the middle of a weekday has everything to do with Healy's preference for a low turnout.

He knows that the hardworking downtown folk of HP (as in those of who will be working during that time of day) see right through him and his corrupt cronies.

I hope that those of you who do go will call him out on his shenanigans, and loudly boo this shameless leader of a council of crooks (minus Steve, of course).

If it's in fact related to More, then I hope that they'll put "more" in their portions than More typically does.

I like More's food, but whenever I take out from them, the portions are small, and they never seem to put more than a token amount of protein.

The Roosevelt and Lincoln in Hamilton Park
#19
Not too shy to talk
Not too shy to talk

I haven't yet toured either of the buildings, but as they are very near to my house, I am considering relocating my mother to one of the buildings.

I don't know much about them, other than the fact that they are operated by the same folks as Newport. Having lived in one of the Newport waterfront buildings for a couple of years myself, I recall the management as inattentive and smug, and the buildings were of substandard construction.

Are the Lincoln and Roosevelt any different? Can someone provide me with a ballpark of the rents for 1 and 2 bedrooms?

I'll appreciate any insights for a prospective tenant. Thanks!

Re: Carpool Commuter Wanted (M-F, J.C. to Manhattan) - I drive

You're right, above poster, it would be a great deal for a Hamilton Parker that needs to be in midtown around 8:30 -- avoid the sardine ride of the PATH, and the second MTA fare. Seriously, $2 for a ride into down or midtown? Should be a nobrainer.

I should note that I would consider driving my fellow car commuter(s) back to J.C. Return leg pick-up would be in Midtown west, preferably Hell's Kitchen area. Your's ac211@columbia.edu

Carpool Commuter Wanted (M-F, J.C. to Manhattan) - I drive

Apologies if this isn't the right forum, but I've tried posting this on Craigslist without any success.

I am seeking a carpooler to join me for a daily commute into Manhattan:

- Depart Hamilton Park area 7:45 AM, Monday-Friday

- I drop you off any spot between Tribeca and Midtown

- You chip in for expenses, but no more than cost of PATH ticket.

- What's in it for me: Virtue of carpooling + HOV discount across the Holland Tunnel

Please email me at AC211@columbia.edu

Thanks.
