My favorite so far is the chicken mole enchiladas. We've only eaten in the restaurant, will try takeout...maybe tonight.

I have walked in and ordered take out twice and seen multiple other people do the same, so not sure what went wrong in your case.

Walked in and tried to order take out ~ they were confused and suggested that I eat there. Would have loved to but had no time. Asked for a take out menu to bring back to the house and study ~ they ddn't have one.
Really want these guys to succeed ~ but c'mon already and get on the take out bandwagon.

Guys, I tried this place and the tacos are AMAZING. Totally authentic, no Tex-Mex tacos here (although I did notice that the menu has fajitas, which I associate more with Tex-Mex/Southwestern than Mexican).
I agree that the place needs a little more pizazz. It is a bit drab and uninviting. Kind of like a cafeteria. I was alone, and I actually ordered my tacos at the counter, then they suggested I sit down, at which point the food was brought to me. One of those "what do I do" kind of situations...like do I order here, or order from the table?

The food is way better than "decent". The food is excellent. The burritos are not large like in some other places that overstuff with rice and beans. The mole is excellent. I wish they had chips and salsa and guac. Hopefully that will be something coming in the future. It seems that they opened for business before they had the aesthetic qualities thought out. I happen to like the space and hope they don't clutter it up. My guess is that, like many Mexican Restaurants, they may eventually add a shelf or two with Mexican groceries.

Ate there last night. Prices were OK, but not a huge bargain. The food was decent, and I really wish them well but they do have some work to do, based on my admittedly limited exposure. The owners are friendly and seem to care about customers, but it's clear they are more used to running a food truck than a restaurant. What they have now is kind of like a food truck operating inside a building.
If they can improve on the decor, ambience, and just the general "system" of operating a restaurant (things like table settings, the front of the house, more organized service, etc.) they should do OK. And they need to take credit cards. Basic gets away with cash-only, but that's a coffee shop. Unfortunately the space they are in is drab and not very inviting. That was a problem for the Park Bistro, too. It's unfortunate because it should actually be a good location - at least for people in the Hamilton Park area. I think more customers would help create some "bustle" and a more energetic vibe that could overcome the atmosphere defects. Lots of places with good food and crappy ambience do well. Anyway, I'd eat there again and I hope they can make a go of it.

After eating there three times, I have come to the conclusion that quality of Ginfi's food is excellent, but the value is a bit lacking. Much like their next door neighbor, everything is $1-3 more than it really ought to be. I also recommend calling ahead if you're carrying out, as even small orders take 15-20 minutes to fill.

Waaaay better than the Taco Truck. The only thing I would like to see is bigger portions.

The place is great! We've gotten food there twice... excellent, quality, fresh tasting...at incredibly reasonable pricing...and both dining in and take-out timing/service was efficient. Awesome addition!

"Make that FOUR new Mexican places (just saw the post about Blue Moon Cafe). Crazy."
yeah it's nuts. i figured 30A would be the tipping point, where some of the younger chefs would start looking out here. Such untapped potential in this town.

This place is excellent. Been there a few times and it's the best food to come to this neighborhood in 20+ years. Not even kidding.

Got some pork tacos and an enchilada there tonight, and it was very tasty. Great addition to the neighborhood!

We picked up some tacos today (black bean, chorizo and chicharonnes). They are very tasty. Fresh, spicy, really yummy. So psyched to have this place.

I think it's awesome that new restaurants are opening. But does anybody find it odd that all of a sudden, in a few months' time period, we are getting exactly 3 new Mexican restaurants (and a new taco truck to boot), and exactly 3 new Italian places? Just a little weird. I mean that can't be good for business unless all 3 of them serve amazing food.
Again, I'm grateful for new restaurants opening, but a little creativity would be nice.

So if Rick Bayless or Diana Kennedy wanted to open restaurants in DTJC there would be concern because their ancestry isn't Mexican?

...So does this mean that if I want to open a bar and be accepted by this list that I need to be 100% alcoholic to be credible?

If they have Van Halen posters on the walls then they are authentic Mexicans. Also, sometimes if you pick up one of those Mexican day laborers they'll cook you an authentic Mexican dinner because, you guessed it, they're Mexicans.

Several I can think of, most with a superior slice. Both Vinnies on Kennedy @ Lincoln, & Vinnie's III on Danforth are great, though I have no idea if they're related, and if Carmine's on 8th isn't owned by a pisan, they put on a pretty good show. Franks is pretty poor and he's the real thing for sure, so I guess I've just proved nothing! And I do like the Chinese burritos at Future and the Chinese "spanish" roast chicken at Goody's. Let's all hope Ginfi is good eats.

There is a small cart on Greene and Columbus during lunch, they had a sign for Ginfi on it today. I've eaten many times and really like them, so I'm looking forward to them opening.
Oh and I'm pretty sure they are real Mexican's.

I think Poncho is responding to folks who think Ginfi is an odd name. (But I too get weirdly optimistic when I see a grammatically incorrect sign in an ethnic restaurant.)

I think we can agree to accept Chicano and even Tex-Mex places under the Mexican food umbrella, as long as the food's good. No need to quibble over culinary purity in this country.
Anyway, anything's better than a chain clone as @ripple points out...

Just saying, it's not the type of grammatical mistake that a native english speaker would make, but easily the type that a native spanish speaker would make since they don't drop articles when referring to places. I'm hoping the food is at least as good as Taqueria. I just don't want a Chili's clone opening up, that's all.

Come on now !
That's the second time Real Mexicans term is being used to describe a Mexican restaurant. You probably couldn't tell between a Mexican, Honduranian, Salvadorian , or Nicaraguan. I haven"t seen a Real Italian own a Pizza joint in years. I judge it on the Pizza. Blue Moon is real Mexican ? Taqueria is Real Mexican. Come on now !

The thing on the window said something like " located at the Hamilton Park". Maybe actual real Mexicans will be running it.
