This was a dangerously horrible decision. I have to admit that I heard the siren and turned on a New York TV station in case there was a bulletin about it. (It wasn't til LATER that I checked jclist.)
And does anyone really believe that Lautenberg is blogging? He needs heart paddles to get him out of bed in the morning.

I was walking downtown and was scared for a few seconds. Why on earth would it make sense to blare sirens during a period of national silence? And where did it come from? I have never heard such a loud noise in my life..

Sounding that siren for no valid reason is an extraordinarily stupid idea at any time, the fact that they did it today was monumentally retarded. But it did make me think...WTF are you supposed to do if that siren goes off for a real emergency?
Run around like a chicken with your head cut off? Get in your car and drive to Pennsylvania? Jump in the Hudson? A loud panic alert isn't really giving me much in the way of useful information. Someone help me out here...

Civil defense sirens should only be used for EMERGENCY or publicized drill!!! WTF!

Jeezus, that's the stupidest thing I've heard of in a long time. Rather than ringing church bells, JC blares a siren we've never heard before and scares the crap out of everybody.

Jc fire scanner just reported person having trouble breathing. I doubt its a coincidence. Blaring air raid sirens on such a day as this is criminal.

When The Bells Begin To Ring & The Sirens Begin To Blow by City of Jersey City Official Government Page on Sunday, September 11, 2011 at 12:18pm U.S. Senator Frank R. Lautenberg (D-NJ) and his colleagues from New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Virginia introduced a resolution that calls on Americans to come together as a nation for a Moment of Remembrance at 1 p.m. EDT on September 11, 2011, the 10th anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks, marked by a minute of reflection and ringing of bells and sounding of sirens across the country. The U.S. Senate approved legislation that asks all Americans to stop and remember during a national Moment of Remembrance on September 11 which will occur at the same time across the country: 1 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time, noon Central Daylight Time, 11 a.m. Mountain Daylight Time, and 10 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time. Local, state, and national institutions -- including state and local governments, military and veterans'organizations, the news media, houses of worship and sports teams -- have been called upon to mark this minute with bells or sirens to honor the victims. Jersey City Police and Fire Departments will take part in the National Momement of Remembrance. Lautenberg, on his blog said ?This will be a striking symbol of American solidarity, signaling to the world that we remain united against those who threaten our freedom.
