had the powerhouse today, good stuff. would say that Skinners, O'connels and P&S are top 3 right now. note that this review is of a burger eaten there, hot off the griddle, not wrapped and steaming itself to a shade of it's former self in the 10/15 minutes between restaurant and delivery location. Anyway, beef was good quality, nothing fancy but good beefy flavor. they hit my temp (rare) and the fries were good and crunchy. the whole plate was moderate size, good value for dollar, not huge so you feel completely wasted after.
not sure if the previous post was from today, but if it was (and it's not an excuse), they were slammed and understaffed today. would give them another try if I were you. and if you do, eat it there...

okay so.... I tried, I really did.
First experience was calling and getting hung up on 3 times... gave up and ordered a pizza. But after all the good reviews on JClist I wanted to give it another shot. So I called, ordered the eli manning, powerhouse burger and buffalo fries. "The Eli Manning $8 House roast beef, caramelized onions, roasted garlic, creamy horseradish sauce" Roast beef was really good - but there was only one onion on the whole 10 inch sandwich. It measured about 1 inch by 1/4 of an inch. a true disappointment as a lover of caramelized onions. The horseradish sauce was also tasty, but it was gooped into the fold of the roll all by it self which left the taste of the sandwich uneven. "The Powerhouse Prime Burger $9.50 1/2 lb. ground short rib, lettuce & tomato, with old bay fries" There was one good thing about this burger... the bun. The burger patty literally tasted like a USDA government school lunch burger. It was completely dried out. The piece of lettuce was bad - bad enough not even to be used as garnish.... the slice of tomato was sliced from a grape tomato and there was one slice. A one inch round slice of tomato on a whole burger... what were they thinking. And to top it all off - they forgot the fries. "Buffalo Fries $3 Crispy fries, blue cheese hot sauce" I wasn't expecting much... after all this was a delivery order, fries usually don't survive. I pretty much got soggy fries logged with hot sauce and no bleu cheese to be found. It went straight to the garbage can. To their credit, when I called about the missing french fries with the burger they were here within 10 minutes and made up in part for the horrible burger. I won't be ordering again.

Had a craving for a 2 points to genius today so I went to the Hoboken location. I really hope the JC location comes back sometime in our lifetime. I liked the JC sandwiches so much better. They were larger, they toasted the bread, and was just an overall better experience. I don't need more burgers, I need my sandwiches back...

by Crazy_Chester on 2011/6/5 12:39:44 See you in 2013, Park & Sixth. ------ If this weren't so true, it would be funny. Having lived through a residential rehab, I find the 2013 date optimistic. So sad that the JC Building Dept has such a bad reputation.

I can live with the closing if the opening brings a quality burger to the hood.

What happened to this place? I was craving a Joe The Plumber, but the place was closed. It's going through renovation and says there will be a new product? I liked the old product, but just couldn't get there often :(

We were in there last night. The new hours have them open until 9pm! We got our usual weekly stock of cheeses and pepper shooters.

guess who is having park and sixth for lunch on Saturday. their mozzarella is just so yummy. It's nice to have a real deli. i have actually wanted to take people from out of town to park & sixth but it keeps happening on sundays so they lose out.

Thanks Brian.
Your very candid update is a nice change from the excuses a lot of places make, and it's great news your hours will be extended. It's particularly good to hear that you'll be open on Sundays soon, too.

I want to take this opportunity to thank those of you who have commented about Park & Sixth. Your feedback, good and not so good, is welcome. As you all know we changed our hours from 11:00-8:00 during the week to 11:00 to 5:00. Please allow me to explain why. I had several problems with my manager, who was nothing short terrible. He is a great guy, but just wasn't doing the job correctly so I had to stop the bleeding and change some staff around to right the proverbial ship.
I made a pretty rudimentary mistake....I just wasn't around enough. I am now at the Jersey City location full time and have made several changes. I'm happy to say that we are back on track, have added some new product and our new hours beginning this Monday will be open for breakfast lunch and dinner. Our new store hours are as follows: Mon-Friday 7:00 am til 9:00 pm. And saturday 10:00 til 5:00. We will be closed on Sundays, however in a few months we will revisit opening Sundays as well. Again, I'd like to to thank you for your feedback and as a gesture of "I'm sorry we screwed up" I'd like to offer all jclist subscribers 25% off of your next order. Please print out this posting and bring it with you as the offer is only good for walk-ins. My staff and I would love to meet with each and everyone of you personally. Thank You, Brian Dowling Owner Park & Sixth

I was in there today and also mentioned how much I wish they were open on sundays... seems like a big missed opportunity - for me basically the only day I can go out and have a nice lunch is the weekend

you know, I really want to love this place, but the two times I've been there the sandwiches I got were just. so. bland.
will stick to the Cubans at La Conguita. much more flavor at about half the price.

They must be doing a kick-ass lunch business, if they are now closing at 5. So I will basically never have a sandwich from there again unless I go on Saturdays. That sucks.

I think it is a bad time to decide to close earlier since there are more daylight hours now and more people will be walking around after 5pm. They just opened and they are already giving up on the evening hours? Restaurants that close at 5pm and on weekends are on my sh!tlist, as they have decided only to serve the workday crowd and not the residents of the city.

i honestly can't believe they are not open on Sundays, at least for a few hours (like 2nd street). Sat/sunday should be their biggest days.

Does anyone else agree that this place isn't going to last long since they set their hours to close everyday at 5? If they weren't getting dinner business, they need to advertise more, not cut back their hours.

Hands down the best new addition in the area... and the perfect alternative when not motivated enough to hit 2nd street before 3pm closing on weekends.
Anyway, have had about 1/2 the speciality sandwiches, no complaints. All the coldcuts, topings and hot items are fresh and tasty. The Mozz is top not and they use a quality bread. slightly "overpriced", but not by much... noting that $16 "whole" is a two person job.

mmmmm I am craving some of that skirt steak so bad. I can't wait to get some as soon as I can. It's grilled to perfection! So delicious, you can request it rare...with asparagus, lettuce, with cheese or mayo in a wrap, yum!
The cheese we enjoyed the first day of the year was to die for: Spanish manchego, Italian bosina, roaring forties blue, goat gouda, cave aged cheddar, and French Compte...It was quite a plate.
