I agree with the JSQ location, somewhere on Newark ave. or Kennedy Blvd. There are no good bar type restaurants here.We need something with a bar/tv and rest. area like Skinners Loft or O`Donnells. Not necessarily a sports bar but something with a TV or 2.

+1 for a seafood restaurant and +1 for a good vegetarian restaurant. That said, there's an awesome little Brasilian place in Tribeca called Barzinho. It's like a Brasilian version of Madame Claude. Having a nice cozy restaurant like that would be great IMO. Also would like to see a B-Flat or Flatiron-type lounge open up where I can chill and listen to an old Jobim or Fitzgerald track.

The seafood place near the waterfront is a GREAT idea. For years I've been wishing that Jersey City would really embrace it's waterfront. For 2 years now I've kept a boat in Liberty Harbor Marina and my mind has been fantasizing about what that whole marina area can become. I have seen many smallish-midsize cities that really embrace the waterfront/marina culture. Where the Sandbar is would be a phenomenal place for a large, indoor/outdoor seafood-focused restaurant. It would be HUGE for boaters in the whole area, and locals. Especially if it had a fun atmosphere to it, almost like some of the places down at the shore that cater to both the family crowd and also the younger day-drinking crowd. Live music would be perfect. The Sandbar location SCREAMS for something like that.

Beyond that, that whole area can be so awesome if developed properly. The Hilton will hopefully start the process. And hopefully Sawa will someday open (WTF is going on there?). With the Morris Canal there, and not one but 2 marinas, that area down there could really be great with shops, restaurants, etc. I *think* that's Mocco's vision to some degree, but I always get foggy answers. No surprise.

I'd love a cozy, Irish pub style place with fish n chips, Guinness stew, and shepherd's pie.

A tex mex place would also be nice. One that serves margaritas and has lots of tequila options would make me a regular.

Brownstone diner has already been featured on DDD. It's all those things you mention except "healthy".

What would be great is a good BBQ restaurant like Dinosaur's up in Harlem. I wouldn't mind a good sports bar like Buffalo Wild Wings either.

I'd like a take-out place that focused on healthy food, even if it's not entirely vegetarian. A good salad bar with fresh ingredients would be nice. I think something like the harvest table in Newark would do well.

I'd like a high-end place. Nothing overly fancy, just high quality. JC has more than enough cheap places to grab a bite. I'd like something nicer. BUT, I don't know if JC has the clientele to support a place like this. Even Ox, which was probably the nicest place around didn't make it, and I'm envisioning something more expensive/nicer than Ox.

I like the idea of a good korean bbq myself, but it might be hard to compete w/ all the great options in Manhattan.

I know we're talking about restaurants and bars, but what I'd really love to see open up is a good/ clean butcher or fishmonger.

We have Cali/Mex/Mexican covered with Taqueria, but we don't really have a good Tex-Mex place. That place on Montgomery Street is OK, but not great at all.

I think JC has some good restaurants, and a pretty decent variety. I truly think that a really good neighborhood-type bar would make a killing. I know they already exist in Barrow, Lucky's, and White Star, but I think there is room for another one in the mix.

jersey city has pizza, tacos, falafel, and asian/indian foods covered pretty well. you would make a killing by opening a vegetarian place like kates joint or life cafe from nyc or at least something that offers a vegan brunch menu. those places both have a bar and are constantly packed. i think we have a similar demographic in downtown jc.

A high end strip club like scores or the penthouse club.

Or a higher end Chinese restaurant where you can get dim sum on the weekends

I've always loved the idea of a place that does something like a street foods of the world type place. Somewhere that does everything from pizza to hummus to tacos to fish and chips, etc. All the staples of different countries and cultures, but all stuff that is relatively inexpensive.

I was flirting with the idea of opening a restaurant and have a few ideas, but I wanted to canvass JC list to see if people here would share their ideas with me and tell me what type of restaurant/bar they would like to see open in JC.
