So the man got lucky... auto theft is a felony, regardless of the value of the car. Do you think he could of had the charge downgraded if he wasn't in the position he was in? Furthermore, it's one thing if he just forgot to return the car, but I find it quite scummy that he wasn't even paying the rental bill. That's just appalling. Let's not forget about the problems he had with the NAACP, failing to file the appropriate financial forms. Are you a friend of this idiot or something? He gets paid over $100,000 to cut ribbons. Why do we need three deputy mayors and what exactly do they do?

He is being prosecuted under the name Kabili Tayari but his name is also in the prosecutor's office's system as Randy Brown, his given name, Loriquet said. The spokesman said he did not know under which name Tayari had rented the car, how much he owed, nor how long he had gone without paying. Since Kabili Tayari is also Randy Brown, Id love to know Randy Brown's colorful history and see who else has an alias - we know healy moonlights as batman ? As for Lipski, I wouldn't waste my pee on him if he was on fire !

Buying a Catholic school? Are you sure? Learning Community Charter School is negotiating to buy the building that was formerly St. Al's and then Caritas. Is there another Catholic school building on the market?

Yes I know. Isn't a wonderful? I wonder if he will take a second six-figure salary for operating that charter school, which would be better paying than his council seat, or if he will give his wife a job there like he did with the first school. Our tax dollars hard at work. I really hope the state dept. of education thinks about his prior behaviour when they are considering the application for this charter school.

I can provide details to #2 - he rented a car from Avis sometime last year and then never returned it for months on end (well past the contracted rental period). That is auto theft - you cannot say there was no element of intent -how do you forget that you rented a car? In any case, regarding Lipski, I'm glad he finally decided not to run again, but he still doesn't deserve his councilmember salary for the last five months of his term. And I think that he is not fit to run a high school, as I believe his behavior constitutes a rather poor example for the students.

One down, one to go. When is Willie Flood going to announce the same? She is a disgrace to this city.

At least Lipski is truthful and out front in his announcement - he could have cited "personal reasons" or some other BS political-speak to bow out.

Lipski bows out of race
Thursday, January 29, 2009 By AMY SARA CLARK JOURNAL STAFF WRITER Calling it "one of the most difficult decisions" of his life, Jersey City Councilman Steve Lipski broke the news this week that he's not seeking re-election to his Journal Square council seat. The Ward C representative since 2001, Lipski has been under heavy pressure to bow out of May's municipal elections since his arrest in Washington, D.C. last November for urinating on concert-goers during a Grateful Dead Tribute Band concert. Lipski, the founder and president of CREATE Charter School in Jersey City, said yesterday the Washington incident was one of several factors that led to his decision. In a letter to The Jersey Journal, he stated: "I need to step back because I did not manage my life well. I let alcohol, at times, become a fix for the stress I was experiencing, and my poor judgment resulted in numerous problems and indescribable embarrassment to the position I hold and to me personally. "I am stepping back to deal with these issues," he added. Lipski, who announced his decision at a meeting of the Hilltop Neighborhood Association Monday night, also said he wanted to spend more time with his wife and needed to focus his attention on CREATE. The Washington matter was resolved earlier this month when Lipski pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor assault charge in a Virginia court and was fined $50 and placed on probation for six months to a year, pending drug and alcohol counseling. So far five candidates have declared for his seat: Jimmy King, Nidia Rivera Lopez, Adela Rohena, Norrice L. Raymaker and Richard Boggiano.
