Monroe is correct. He stepped down as a JCIA commissioner, not from his HCIA job, which is paid. JCIA gig was unpaid.

I thought he was to step down from his JCIA commissioner job-this last report should sink him totally.

I mixed up his job with his role as commissioner. He used to be a Code Inspector for Hudson County Improvement Authority. I believe he did step down from that job once elected to the council.

He is one of the Commissioners for JCIA. I don't see why he should get a vehicle out of that.

No, he still has a county job with HCIA. Not sure doing what, but he still works there.

Here's one question: did they have the best qualification/experience for the job? If not, then that's not good

Read through this. Look at the list of jobs held by North Bergen Mayor and Hudson County pol Sacco family members and friends. Were these all advertised? Were all the people hired because of their job experience and merit, rather than personal connections? It's shocking the money involved-besides the salaries, consider the benefits and pension implications.

How is this even possible in this time and age? Oops, it's the Democratic Hudson County machine.

Drug purchase? To pick someone up or drop them off? There are lots plausible explanations. Hopefully the Jersey or Star Ledger will investigate.

Your demonizing diminishes the real crime, the continuing social pattern of government abuse of power, exploiting the public and violating our trust for personal gain. No one works for the city without 'getting some,' no matter how saintly their self professions.

Agreed, but I think many people think this is limited to one political party and the way to fix this is vote in more people of their party. They are both pretty rotten.

Whats beautiful about this story is that the longer it takes for him to resign the more he is going to be trashed by the press and the people in our community who believe that he is a disgrace.

"Ramchal told The Jersey Journal last week that he was driving the JCIA SUV on March 14 because his personal vehicle was having "mechanical issues" and there were no city cars available. He said he had been driving the JCIA car for about three months."

I just love that last paragraph in the previous story. Your personal vehicle couldn't be fixed for three months? Time to get a new car, idiot. Oh, silly me, that's money coming out of your own and not the taxpayers' pockets. Excuse me while I slap myself.

Where did he fill the gas tank on the car for all these off hour trips? Does the JCIA have gas pumps where he could fill up for his midnight rides?

I hope future councilpeople now know that their personal lives will be revealed if they borrow a municipal car and an accident occurs.

Jersey City councilman's city agency SUV used for after-midnight trips, GPS records show

By Terrence T. McDonald | The Jersey Journal

In the months preceding a collision that led to Councilman Khemraj "Chico" Ramchal's arrest on a drunken driving charge, the taxpayer-funded SUV assigned to Ramchal regularly bounced around Jersey City during after-midnight jaunts, according to GPS records obtained by The Jersey Journal.

In the 194 days between Sept. 1, 2014 and the night of Ramchal's DWI arrest, the car returned to Ramchal's home address after midnight 82 times, often after visiting numerous different locations that evening.

Isn't this a typical government bureaucrat response to a problem of select city employees abusing their positions of power and putting the public at risk... I am sure this action will keep city employees from driving drunk in city vehicles. Chico's defense will be that the blue, red and white lights made him drive drunk. Quote:

this reminds me how Vega and others proclaimed their innocence until it was clear to all but the truly moronic that they were totally guilty.

Good luck with your not guilty plea Chico.

Councilman Khemraj "Chico" Ramchal, who was arrested on March 14 and charged with drunken driving, will plead not guilty, his attorney told The Jersey Journal today.

The councilman issued a public apology the week after the collision and pledged to seek counseling, but his attorney, John J. Bruno Jr., said he has gathered facts that he believes will exonerate his client.

"I feel very strongly about his innocence," Bruno said today.
