An elementary school kid could have told you that it was going to be really hot, very early in the morning yesterday.

Assume the issue is that Lyles and her team were nice and comfy in their Air Conditioned offices and have no sense of what reality is.....

Sad that she has a contract until 2020. Maybe someone from an appropriate agency or the Mayors office can look into this epic failure of responsibility....

Jersey City Schools - PS 16

A work colleague of mine received a text message saying PS-16 was being dismissed this afternoon because of the excessive heat with 7 minutes prior to the dismissal time.
What a way to run a school. Luckily there was a relative nearby.

Ask anyone who pays the $15 toll at the PANYNJ crossings to NYC and they would tell you that increasing tolls to pay for the WTC was criminal.....

They got that incident on video.

Even the patients of the "best" doctors can have complications - I would ask any of them what type of complications their patients have had from the procedure and if they say none, they are lying.

Go see if they are willing to remove all the disclaimers in their waiver forms.

Maybe JClist can create a section where forum users can upload videos of both stupid drivers and pedestrians to shame them?

The sad thing is that when someone looks at this list years from now, there is a strong probability that many of those arrested will have committed major crimes, including murder or will have been murdered....

Have some confidence in yourself when the noise is going on and kindly introduce yourself, invite them into your unit so they can experience the situation themself.

I once had an issue with a neighbor that placed speakers right against against the common wall our units had. After he understood the impact of the vibrating walls, he moved the speakers to a different spot while playing at similar volumes with no issue.

Some people are just a--holes but if you approach the situation in a reasonable way, you might easily work something out...

Grove Street in that area has not flooded in a few years now. Whatever remediation they did in Hoboken seems to have helped.

1) Nobody wins when there is a lawsuit except the attorneys.
Buyers are going to hesitate to buy when there is ongoing litigation. Owners get desperate when market conditions are bad.

2) Been quite dry since last winter, some would call it drought conditions. Wait until we get a few consecutive storms and the ground gets saturated before its safe to say the remediation worked. BTW, this area is at a very low elevation compared to sea level so next time there is a storm surge like Sandy or even half, this area is toast unless flood walls are installed and sea levels stop rising....

This is Jersey City, we want our runoffs. We want candidates to prove themselves.

Pretty much.

If your building bans smoking in the common areas, then it is not the responsibility of Phillip Morris or the local tobacconist to ensure that the rule is followed in that building.

If a condo association or landlord doesn't enforce a rule, that's not AirBNB's fault.

It's the building's responsibility to ensure that owners are abiding by the rules; and a landlord's responsibility to ensure that tenants are abiding by relevant laws. That includes handling short-term rentals.

But Philip Morris isn't posting on their website places that you can smoke. BTW - smoking in a common public area like a building lobby is illegal under NJ law so the Association or Landlord does not specifically need to be the one enforcing.

I guess JC needs another form of revenue after the demise of traffic light cameras.

If they are going to implement it, I hope that they have a provision that both the renter and airbnb will be subject to a hefty fine for anyone staying in a nonconforming location (such as a multifamily / condo etc for which the owner in the case of a rental / or the association for a coop/condo hasn't approved).

It isn't airBnB's business to police whether hosts are breaking their lease agreements. Typically this is grounds for lease termination. It is the landlords legal responsibility to adjust to this trend edit their de facto lease agreements if they have not already.

That being said, airBnB does have the following in their ToS about removing posts if the above is true:

"You acknowledge and agree that you alone are responsible for any and all Listings and Member Content you post. Accordingly, you represent and warrant that any Listing you post and the booking of, or a Guest's stay at, an Accommodation in a Listing you post (i) will not breach any agreements you have entered into with any third parties, such as homeowners association, condominium, lease or rental agreements, and (ii) will (a) be in compliance with all applicable laws (such as zoning laws and laws governing rentals of residential and other properties), Tax requirements, and rules and regulations that may apply to any Accommodation included in a Listing you post (including having all required permits, licenses and registrations), and (b) not conflict with the rights of third parties. Please note that Airbnb assumes no responsibility for a Host's compliance with any agreements with or duties to third parties, applicable laws, rules and regulations. Airbnb reserves the right, at any time and without prior notice, to remove or disable access to any Listing for any reason, including Listings that Airbnb, in its sole discretion, considers to be objectionable for any reason, in violation of these Terms or Airbnb's then-current Policies and Community Guidelines, or otherwise harmful to the Site, Application or Services."

Spineless response - so blame the association or building owner for not being the gestapo. Airnbnb should be proactive in making sure their users are in compliance. Its like being a pimp and saying they are not responsible for what goes on. Give me a break.

Hopefully in exchange for legitimizing Airnbnb in Jersey City (I am not against the concept), the city should require that Airbnb proactively enforce that those renting out their homes, condos, apartments etc are in compliance - its not that hard.

Are they in any rush to get this done?

I thought inbound lanes were supposed to be done this summer and that the crews were supposed to be working non-stop all weekends (not just to replace floor beams) when they started to be running behind schedule. Looks like they still have a lot to do before they move the outbound lanes to the southern side.

I just read an article on Nj.com about a JC woman who died Sunday morning in NYC as a result of the driver of the car she was in being DWI.

Reminded me of Ramchal not taking responsibility for his actions. Luckily nobody died and that injuries to people in the other vehicles were not critical. Hopefully our judicial system will make it clear to him that his actions were criminal. Any update on the status of his judicial situation?

Then don't buy or rent - government shouldn't meddle in this -the forces of supply and demand and personal decision should be the enforcers of the market.
