Good luck!

I'll be sure to give this place a try as soon as it comes out.

Not to turn this into a 7th St Deli discussion but they were a frequent breakfast/lunch place for us - egg sammies and ramen were our faves. Anyone know if they are opening something elsewhere?

Thanks all.
We'll have ramen as well; I've tried 7th Street ramen and you're right, the quality was going down the last few months.
You'll probably have to get your egg sammy fix somewhere else though :(

Good luck, and excited to try. Just don't call ANYTHING a sammy. Awful, stupid trend in food circles to use these "cutesy" words.

Excited for the new addition. However, I would advise against listing menu prices on your website this early in the process.

It would be great if you offered vegetarian options. I frequent Hangawi (vegan Korean) in Manhattan's K town often and they have some great dishes so it can be done :).

Excited to have some good Korean food in JC! I also frequented 7th street deli for their ramen, but the quality has really gone downhill in the past 6 months or so. Can't say I'm too sad to see them go.

Sounds awesome. Price it competitively for lunch with the other ethnic food around and I'll be a regular!

Hi all,
I'm opening a Korean restaurant in downtown Jersey City, and I'm shooting for 12/1/14. I moved here with my wife about 4 years ago and looked around for good Korean food. We couldn't find any, so we're opening up our own place.

It will be family owned and run: my mother in law will be the chef/cook, and my sister-in-law and my wife will be managing the place.

It will be cafeteria style, and have all of your favorite Korean dishes, as well as what Koreans eat in Korea nowadays.
This means:
Kal-bi (marinated beef short rib)
Bul-go-gi (Korean BBQ)
Gim-bop (Korean nori, rice, and your choice of vegetarian or meat filling)
Jeon (Korean 'pancake', kimchi, beef, or seafood)
Sundubu jigae (spicy tofu soup) and other stews and soups
Korean ramen (with meat, or vegetarian)
And more.

Our place will be BYOB. Come, eat, drink, and be merry.

It's called Ahri's Kitchen, after our daughter. It's located at 227 7th street, on the corner of 7th and Erie.
There is a deli there currently. The lease is being signed this coming Saturday. We need to obtain permits and begin construction.
We hope to have our soft opening on 12/1.

Our website, under construction:
www.ahriskitchen.com

We hope you can support our kickstarter, opening 9/1.
