Here is a section of the CBS Chicago report on shooting incident in Chicago last night that kept him away from Jersey City. At least Rahm know enough to drop politics/fundraiser when there is a shooting in his city.
McCarthy repeatedly refused to address the incident?s toll on the city?s reputation or his department?s effort to curb gun violence. ?Every time somebody is shot in this city, it?s a setback,? McCarthy said. ?But this is not just a Chicago problem.? The incident appeared problematic enough for Mayor Rahm Emanuel to cancel a meeting with Obama administration cabinet secretaries today on city issues and return to Chicago, his spokeswoman Sarah Hamilton said. Emanuel flew to D.C. Thursday to raise money for his campaign fund. His East Coast swing also was supposed to include a political fundraiser for Democratic New Jersey U.S. Senate candidate Cory Booker. Upon his return, Emanuel spent 40 minutes at Mount Sinai Hospital, where he spoke with Deonta?s mother. The boy, who remains in critical condition, was sedated and being prepared for surgery during the visit.

+1 to that. You just can't make this stuff up. Yet, the fools in this state keep voting for these clowns.
Anyone who can't see that these trips across the country are priming the pump for a future Presidential run is either a) mentally handicapped or b) too transfixed on Booker's Hollywood appeal to care. Good luck getting any work out of Booker when he's Senator. That's when the countrywide tour will really begin. Quote:

Link to Article Cory Booker's campaign says a rally featuring Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel in Jersey City has been canceled. No reason was given. But Chicago was the scene of a late-night shooting Thursday that left 13 people wounded, including a 3-year-old. Booker's campaign earlier told The Star-Ledger the Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate would not be at the rally. Booker instead will be in San Francisco today at a fundraiser held by the "San Francisco Young Professionals for Cory Booker." Emanuel and Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop were scheduled to headline the event near the Grove Street PATH station.

I wonder if Rahm will show up in JC today considering that 13 people including a 3 year old boy were shot in a park in Chicago last evening.
Big Guy from reading a few blogs it seems yes people wish a stronger/fresher candidate was running against Booker. But they are saying they will hold their nose and vote Lonegan this time around just to deny Booker (and Hollywood) a US Senate seat. Then in 14 months for the real election they are hoping there will be two better choices.
