and... why is this important information? How were the results obtained? Did they ask how many hours the occupants worked? How far they had to drive to work? What constitutes "hard working?" Do they send remittances home or have to work two jobs to live there????

So.... this one of the hardest working zip codes because the residents make a lot of money?! That's pretty insulting - I can tell you there are a lot of residents in 07307 that work a lot harder than some Wall Streeter sitting at her desk running algorithms.

Exactly! The article stated $212,554 per household. I actually find that number to be low, all things considered. Assuming the average household (apartment in The Pier) is probably a couple, or two people, both most likely employed in NYC, or perhaps in the Harborside Financial / Exchange Place area, that's about 106K / person.

The only people who live in the zip code are the residents of the The Pier Apartments building (http://www.equityapartments.com/new-j ... /the-pier-apartments.aspx), so the income and other figures aren't surprising. It's mostly offices and parking lots.

Edit: Looks like people beat me to it. That's the problem with a lot of these "studies". They include even tiny zip codes.

Does the "Cake Boss" live in the Piers apts, his picture in the Hoboken store is on top of the blurb about the small JC zip. Another error if he doesn't live there.

I think it is only the Pier Apts as residential. CP is on the North side of 2nd St on that map posted in thread #3 above.

So that's pretty funny then. The study shows that the Pier Apt residents are hard workers. I believe it!

So only 324 people live in that building? Even if so, I can't imagine a more pointless "study."

There is virtually no credibility to this statistic. First, how is it at all possible that not one neighborhood of NYC, nor any suburb of NYC, is cited as another of the top ten. No one can convince me that of ALL the zip codes across the country, JC possesses a zip code which depicts a population that works HARDER than some of the most affluent neighborhoods of much more major cities than JC.

A zip code with 324 people in it? In a dense city?? Something sounds fishy here, or else it's a perfect reason why the USPS is losing billions of dollars a year.

That is ridiculous. Your comment makes a mockery of the most basic principles of economics.

Please enlighten me with the 'basic principles of economics'

The "demographic" has chosen to live in that particular location because they value living their over other locations, taking into account the costs. They are free to consider, and surely have considered, living in other areas local to their jobs. If the demand to live in the zip code were to decrease, the price would decrease with it.

These Are The 10 Hardest Working Zip Codes In America

MOVOTO BLOG
Laura Allan

Right now, you?re probably just home from a hard day?s work or getting ready to head there. It seems those are the only two options nowadays, doesn?t it? At least you can take solace in knowing that you?re not the only hard-working American out there. Of course, some people work a little harder than others, right?

Now before you go telling anyone within earshot what time you have to get up, how much you make, or how stressful your daily routine is, you might want to see what we recently found here at the Movoto Real Estate Blog. What did we find? Why, a list of the very hardest working zip codes in America, where people work so hard that it makes us tired just reading about it.

The hardest working U.S. zip codes were:

1. 07833, Delaware, NJ
2. 17730, Dewart, PA
3. 10914, Blooming Grove, NY
4. 83011, Kelly, WY
5. 83118, Etna, WY
6. 47010, Bath, IN
7. 03604, Walpole, NH
8. 07311, Jersey City, NJ
9. 89426, Paradise Valley, NV
10. 20105, Aldie, VA

8. 07311, Jersey City, NJ
This little 324 person zip code is a part of the much larger Jersey City area, which certainly has plenty of hard workers and difficult jobs. The 100 percent of households that earned, didn?t use retirement income, or were not jobless certainly spoke to this zip code being the hardest working portion of the city.

The commute time here was a little shorter, at only half an hour, but the paycheck certainly made it all worth it. People who lived in this zip code pulled in an impressive $212,554 per household each year. So while people sweat over their jobs and commutes, they?re definitely compensated well for their efforts.
