ok so I'm not going crazy, I smelled that as well. Weird. Maybe one of the NYC trash trains stopped on the tracks for a while. That happens from time to time.

Something was definitely out of the ordinary. I smelled it as soon as I stepped out onto 10th st at 8:15am and I noticed another 5 or 6 year old walking nearby holding his nose. Smelled like a loaded garbage truck.

Correct. But inasmuch as this is not a daily odor (in fact I can't remember it ever in decades) it's fair to assume that something out of the ordinary is going on.

I smelt it too! Very early this morning. Not the usually strange licorice smell that happens when you cross the bridge, but a more poopy-sewer smell.

I noticed the same smell about 10 minutes ago. My allergies are bad this morning, so it is hard for me to make out. It does smell like the rendering plant in Newark. They take old, rotten meat and turn it into components for varnishes.
