Great location with lots of outdoor space! For anyone complaining about bars and restaurants opening up......Move to the suburbs! Let us city folk enjoy a diverse neighborhood!

They are cutting in front of my building, I'm very sad and called about it. The man said that many people were upset over the cutting of the trees on Barrow.

Gross. What a waste of space.
I rather make a few stops and shop at the baker, the cheese shop, Korean market, and fish shop. I'll end up spending the same amount of money but have fresher foods and support local people.

I agree, DWI enforcement is always important. And I love that downtown public transportation and Uber has cut down on it.

I'm all for bars all over town and people enjoying them, in fact I don't even think there should be curfew, but at the same time people need to be responsible for themselves. This accepted culture of binge drinking is really sad, and seeing 30 year olds barefoot and puking at midnight is ridiculous. If the city needs money, start writing tickets.

Why are we blaming the business? Where is the personal responsibility? An adult should be able to to drink without cops having to babysitting. If they get rowdy, or publicly drunk to the point vomiting all over the plaza they should get fined. Or put in the drunk tank and taught a lesson.
It's disgusting that adults can't handle the combination of being outside and drinking to the point of having to close the entire plaza.

I have been there for almost 15 years and it has changed a lot. There are still some regular day drinkers and dealers, but I have never felt unsafe. Everyone keeps to themselves.

But for the new stroller crowd moving in: please don't come here wanting it to be the burbs!

I smelt it too! Very early this morning. Not the usually strange licorice smell that happens when you cross the bridge, but a more poopy-sewer smell.

You car people realize that in Europe there are entire cities that are car free? And they don't even have jet, fresh direct, blue apron, etc.
We should improve public transportation as well. Eventually people who don't absolutely need a car will find it's not worth it.

Only Yvonne would find the bad in banning the exploitation of exotic animals.
Whatever the reason Fulop decided to do it, can we at least agree that elephants and and other exotics do not belong in circuses where they do not receive adequate veterinary care, food, or husbandry.

If someone is transgender, how would you know if they are using the "correct" bathroom? Are you going to ask to see someone's genitals? Doesn't the world have bigger problems??
Who is going to stop the person who doesn't look girly enough, or manly enough to use that restroom?

At the very least they could have marked the staircases up and down to help the bottle neck disaster that happens all day. Not even just at rush hour.
They spend billions and they overlooked the most important thing!
This asshole architect probably never even rode the PATH, or public transportation at all!

I just want to add the WTC station is a shit show and everyone involved should be ashamed and fired.
They had a chance to build a station that could accommodate thousands of commuters, allowing for seamless entering and exiting of the cars. Instead it's a mess!
Ever seen the tube station in London? Those tiny staircases, with people going up and down...escalators going the wrong direction..and who picked white???? What a mess!

I thought it was great, and I can't wait to go back with a bigger group.
Waitress was sweet and attentive, the atmosphere was perfect. Spacious but cozy, even the music was at a just right volume.
I though the food was excellent, and prices were right on. In the summer this is going to be really fun.
Just goes to show everyone has different tastes!

Re: Plan to lower parking minimums in Jersey City spurs anger

Jersey city was once a very high density city with great public transportation. In the early 1900s there was a much higher population, and even more people that commuted into the city. My building that now has a total 12 people, once housed 36! Street cars, the Lackawana rail station, multiple ferries, carried masses in and out of the city when there were no cars at all.
The problem is when we shifted to a car-centric society, we stopped investing in infrastructure, paved over rails, and people moved to suburbs and forgot what it means to do things locally.
What I'm trying to say is better public transportation, a commitment to invest in public transportation, serves everyone: Local business, the environment, pedestrians, bicyclists, people who can't afford cars...

Wow, I had no idea having kids made you such a model citizen.
I sweep up plenty of trash, and did long before the city was "safe" for families.
The point of a city is having all sorts of people, but I get annoyed when people with kids think the city needs to cater to their suburban lifestyle.
Seriously, leave that double wide outside.

Elsquid - but then you won't be attracting families here - what you will attract instead are transient young people who, quite frankly, wont have a long term vested interest in making jc a great place to live. They will live here for a while, contribute little to none in the way of community value, and then move to the burbs when they are ready to have kids because jc is becoming so family unfriendly. Now thats great for the bottom line of developers and maybe business owners ( though i would argue that vested families contribute more towards thriving and sustainable business in this city) , but not great for residents who actually plan on living in this city for the long haul. Adequate parking is absolutely essential for the quality of life in any city, including Manhattan. Im not saying it has to be free, but it has to be available across the sectrum. Yes, manhattan has lots of parking garages!!! Manhattan also has a lot more to offer in terms of city services and amenities that make the inconvenience of less parking more tolerable in the long haul. Jc doesnt have that to offer.

Why the hell do we need to attract more families? Childless "transients" are crucial for cities. Pay more taxes, spend more money in bars, restaurants and retail shops. Not to mention they don't need minivans or try to wheel their strollers into coffee shops. And why would you assume they are not here for the long haul? Sorry but, take that to the suburbs so I can still hear bands play without noise complaints.

So true! There is only one solution. Ban schools is residential areas. They create noise, pollution, and destruction to property. We can not allow this in our quite neighborhood.
