I'm surprised he came on here and made a post like that, given his past statements. Maybe he forgot about his comments from a year ago?

You could spread your legs and straddle the line between the proposed 95 story casino property and Liberty State Park. Yet Mayor Fulop claims to oppose plans that would stress LSP, the wildlife, and add to traffic woes.

It doesn't add up, does it?

Reebok Founder Proposes 95-Story Tower With Casino for Jersey City

?You?ve got to think big,? said Mayor Steven Fulop of Jersey City, adding that he had been discussing the project with Mr. Fireman for eight months. ?The opportunity to have a world-class facility on the waterfront is significant from a job-creation standpoint, for tax relief and for tourism. Paul Fireman is capable of executing something like this.?

Here's another more relevant quote of Fulop's from the same article:

"With 12 million adults within an hour of the Fireman site, Mr. Fulop said projections indicated ?it would be the highest-grossing casino in the United States ? we?re targeting the New York market.?

So, Mayor Fulop has "mixed feelings" about a casino in Jersey City? I read his words differently. Maybe my language comprehension has declined in recent years.

Job creation, tax relief....I think we've heard that before. I will vote NO

Thanks Dan. It is a big stretch to say anyone plans to build anything at this stage as I have been the first to say that I have mixed feelings here. The legislation in Trenton will only give the opportunity to the voters of which the feedback from the voters in Jersey City in November will govern the process for me.

As it stands today there isn't gaming permitted, nor zoning permitted, nor has anything passed and I certainly have been on the record as stating Concerns. Hope that clarifies as I know you want to be accurate.

https://www.change.org/p/mayor-steven- ... o-gambling-in-jersey-city

Bills before the state Assembly and Senate would allow for the building of a casino in Jersey City. If enacted, Mayor Fulop and billionaire Paul Fireman reportedly plan to build a 90 story casino and convention center next to Liberty State Park. Research has shown that casinos have a negative impact on local property values and derive a disproportionate amount of revenue from vulnerable, often elderly, problem gamblers. Our elected officials should embrace sustainable, socially responsible economic development and unambiguously reject any plan to build a casino in our city.
