Why is Bayonne mentioned as if it's undergoing some sort of renaissance? It hasn't and won't, and Trenton is in the same boat. It doesn't have the raw materials for a rebirth of any sort. Downtown Jersey City and Hoboken gentrified for one reason and literally one reason only.

It does. If they haven't setup historical districts, they'll lose them...

Wow, this is certainly a very entertaining thread. My bad for chiming so late. Utterly fascinating.

Honestly, from the westside of Bayonne into midtown by transit is 1 1/2 hrs, you might as well live in Trenton.

More 10% increases in NJT fares and transit cuts will make it happen.

Cities like New Brunswick and Jersey City have been enjoying a renaissance with their thriving downtowns, and now it's Trenton's turn, politicians and business leaders said Wednesday at a chamber breakfast.

"Jersey City, Hoboken, Bayonne. For decades, they lagged behind," said Michele Siekerka, president of New Jersey Business and Industry Association. "Today they're probably the most valuable assets we have in real estate. Trenton can do that as well."

The capital city, she said, can become a place where millennials will want to live and businesses will want to invest.
