Yeah, is this a pay to play thing, or is there a system where one can reserve time on the court?

As I understood the rules, you wait for a court. There, in person. No paying or reservations, or list. The "sign in" is just that, sign in when you take the court, leave an hour after you sign in. My daughter took some private lessons there last year, but she and the instructor would wait for a court like anyone else.

Anybody know what's the scoop with private schools "reserving" the HP tennis courts? I thought it was 1st come 1st served for 1hr, period. My daughter was playing in a court today that said it was reserved at like 3:30 by the Montessori school. Even 10 minutes before that time 2 men just walked into their court and started setting up. The girls were intimidated and left, but were pretty annoyed.

How does it work when instructors use public tennis courts for lessons? Does the same rule apply regarding time on courts etc.?

DMac inside the field house where you register to play they have the man's business card who gives lessons. I was going to call him but never got around to it. Some injuries have kept me off the court but let me know if you try him.

James Alfalla, who lives in Jersey City is who I'd recommend. I never took a lesson from him (not into tennis myself), but I have met him and he seems to be a patient and pleasant person to learn from. Here's his website, where you can contact him:

I would like to hire a local tennis pro and take lessons in Hamilton Park. Does anyone have the name of someone? Preferably someone who works with extreme beginners? Thanks.
