would be nice. The NJT train is expensive and slow. I usually switch to the Bus since it's only $1.50

Thank you! I did this for the first time yesterday morning and it worked like a charm. $3.50 to the airport in a little over 50 minutes and the bus takes you straight to the terminal. That may be the best deal in the entire state.

Does the bus now allow you to bring luggage on? I tried this a few years ago and was not allowed on with my full-size valise.

This is a no-brainer, but we've been waiting for it for years, and will wait for years more before the Port Authority eventually decides, again, to not do it. That is a nice fiction. Truthfully, the Port Authority officials can't go to the bathroom without first getting approval from their respective governors. The reason the Port Authority is so despised is because of the illusion of independence that allows the governors of both states to shunt much of their unpleasant business to the agency and deflect public outrage away from the statehouses.

Extending the PATH from Penn Station to the Airport stop has been an ongoing project since they built the airport station. Most of this track is already laid, since part of it serves as a rail yard. Although there is always the long standing "Why the hell didn't they extend the monorail to Newark Penn Station" question.

The PATH would reduce travel time to and from lower Manhattan significantly and also deliver access to the airport at a lower cost than NJTransit.

The PATH terminates in the wrong direction at Hoboken for there to be any extension into the heights. When the trains approach Hoboken, they are facing Manhattan. The best chance of getting rail service to the Heights was the 7 Train extension or a light rail line down 6th Street through the Bergen arches. Both plans seem to be dead.

JSQ bound trains aren't going to go to Newark on a regular basis. The NWK - WTC line is already at capacity at rush hours. Also the trains running through JSQ share a platform, and switching trains is easy enough if you are into that sort of thing.

The PATH will probably cost the same going to Newark Airport, just as the subway costs the same going to JFK's AirTrain. But there will probably simply be a fee for the monorail, as there is for AirTrain, which will be awesome since unlimited Metro and PATH cards won't work and you'll need to buy a cash Metro Card with an odd balance on it that you will never use.

It would be nice to take the Path to the airport, but there IS direct service from Manhattan already. I would personally rather see them extend the Path on the Hoboken line to add one more stop: The Heights.

Or, get the signal system upgraded QUICKLY so the trains don't slowly roll under the Hudson River at the pace of a turtle!

The 33rd train would just continue from JSQ to Newark Penn Station. The track is already there, its just that trains are not scheduled to run from Newark to 33rd (they did after the 9/11 attack though).

The issue is getting the PATH train from Newark Penn Station to EWR.

The article says they are studying extending the World Trade Center-Newark line.
Why not the 33rd line? Wouldn't that serve a lot more people?
There's nothing physically stopping them from extending the 33rd line to Newark from JSQ and then onto EWR is there?

New Jersey can be an expensive place to do business. Do you watch "Housewives of New Jersey"? It's a must. LOL!

I got shocked at some of the estimates to do the extension such a short distance to EWR. I figured they would be building it along an existing ROW and it wouldn't be 100's of millions of bucks.

At least it is being considered. It only makes sense that they do this.

You are right that the title is somewhat misleading - not intentional, just excitement. Let's hope that sane heads prevail and that it is expanded to ewr
