By Elizabeth Weill-Greenberg ? Jun 14th, 2010 ?

Despite the threat of thunderstorms, the rain held off all day and hundreds of people flocked to the newly renovated and reopened Hamilton Park in Downtown Jersey City on Saturday for the annual Hamilton Park Festival. Festival-goers were greeted by representatives from many local nonprofit and community groups, live music from a number of bands and plenty of area residents trying to find new homes for their unwanted stuff.

+1 !

Yes, it was a beautiful day in a wonderfully restored park and many excellent musicians and dancers, especially the group, Raw Elementz from Dickinson High School!

Congrats to all those at HPNA involved in the hard work over the past years and especially today.

+1!

Yes, Dan is right, without the HPNA guiding the process and providing constant feedback, a plethora of mtgs., surveys, etc., this renovation never would have happened.

I suggest we all go up to the HPNA table on Sat, June 12th from 11 until 6PM, during the 25th Annual Hamilton Park Festival and personally thank them, sign their mailing list and contribute to the group who brought this renovation.

Just got back from the reopened Hamilton Park. Looks good! Just a little concerned that my daughter won't want to go to van vorst park now that she's seen the options in the much larger HP playground!

As for the basketball court, it looked fine. More litter was in the kids playground.

The opening of the park has inspired me to officially join the JC List community after a year of lurking.

What a beautiful "addition" to the neighborhood. It's already made my walk to work much more enjoyable, and I'm looking forward to making the most out it. It's amazing how much a lively Hamilton Park brightens up the area.

And thank you to those of you here that were involved in making this park what it is - you deserve a HUGE pat on the back. It was well worth the wait.

I love the park. I love it, I love it, I love it. It looks great, and seeing so many people in there enjoying it today made me really happy. So glad it's open again!
