Glad you put things in perspective and lent some intelligence to the site, regulator. The previous two statements are moronic.

probably significant, although not as high as you might expect at some of the city's private schools. the sad fact is many intelligent, respectful and otherwise law abiding students DO attend the city's public high schools - but all you hear about is the thugs and gang bangers.

I really would like to know the stats on what percent of these kids graduate and or go on to college or lead productive lives.

Masked man with knife gets away
Friday, February 20, 2009 By TOM SHORTELL JOURNAL STAFF WRITER A masked man wielding a steak knife managed to elude Jersey City police Wednesday after officers broke up a street fight outside Dickinson High School. Two officers patrolling Dickinson High School after dismissal, about 3:10 p.m., saw a street fight erupt involving about 10 males, according to police. After calling for backup, the two officers attempted to break up the melee. While stopping the fight, the officers saw a brawler wearing a bright yellow ski mask pull out a long steak knife and attempt to stab another fighter. Officer John Boamah managed to grab the masked fighter and force him to drop the knife, police said. The brawler struggled free and took off running south toward Newark Avenue. Boamah ran after the fighter and was joined by Officer Ryan Licata, who responded to the request for backup. Both officers slipped on wet pavement during the chase and gave up pursuit on Pavonia Avenue, police said. Both of the pursuing officers and a student were transported by ambulance to Christ Hospital for injuries, police said. A 16-year-old boy had a bruise to his upper right forehead caused by a punch thrown in the fight. Boamah twisted his right knee while Licata injured his right knee and hands, both from their falls in the chase. School officials are cooperating with the investigation, said Jersey City schools spokeswoman Paula Christen.
