I know there was a thread on this previously but I can't find it.

Any recommendations on someone to clean the interior of a house?

I'm an independent cleaner, live locally in Jersey City and I have three years' professional cleaning experience.
I'm extremely detail-oriented and thorough, and I have excellent references. I can bring the cleaning supplies, also I do green cleaning, and I am not allergic to pets.
I have reasonable rates and provide personalized service including home organizing. You may reach me on 201-640-7496, or send me a message. Thanks, Wendy.

I dropped my service of 10 years and my only regret is I didn't do it sooner. Not perfect, but close to it - Cleonice, 908-468-6350

I am in need of a new cleaning service after dropping the place I have used for 5-ish years. I'd like someone independent, i.e., the same person/crew every cleaning, trustworthy, with their own equipment/supplies that does a thorough and consistent job. I'm in Hamilton Park, 2 bedroom, 1 bath approx 700 sq ft. Thanks.

We've used Su before - 201 737 4732. She does pretty much all of Jersey City.

I used Clean Popo once. They sent two cleaning staff and someone who I imagine was the manager? It was $120 for the cleaning. While I have to say that it was quick clean, it wasn't a thorough clean. Corners of the floors were still dusty, the outside of the refrigerator was still dirty (especially the handle and the side adjacent to the stove, etc.

I wouldn't use them again.

I'd really love to find an independent cleaner who people recommend. Why is it so difficult??

I called Popo and was really turned off by their pricing policy. As a result, I decided against them. They wanted to charge for x number of hours at $60 per hour for the first visit based solely on the size of my of my apt. It came out to more than 50% more than what I'm paying now. What bothered me is that every company I have dealt with pays a visit and makes a determination on the cost based on what they see. Popo does not do that. They go by however much time it takes them to clean on the initial visit. I found that very unprofessional and told them so. How can you be in the business and not be able to judge from taking a walk through?

I'm guessing, but also not taken into consideration is that they're used to Hoboken railroad apartments. Although my apartment is large for a one bedroom, it's a lot easier to clean than a railroad since there are only 2 rooms and a bathroom.

That's why I like independent people (who come with recommendations). I decided to read my present cleaning person the riot act and, if that doesn't work, continue my search for someone independent. I've been with them for going on 10 years and there's been lapses in service in the past year. Hopefully, that can be straightened out when the owner learns I'm on the market.

What are people paying with Clean Popo?

I live in a one bedroom railroad apartment. I'd previously paid $90 per clean with an independent house keeper. But I was disappointed with the lack of depth (never cleaned the baseboards, floors never really looked clean, etc.). I can wipe down counter tops and the tub. I want my cleaning service to do the work I don't have time (or want) to do.

We've gone through quite a few cleaning services in the last few years, and now we are finally sticking with Clean Popo. They are by far the most professional... quick to respond to emails (I rarely speak to them on the phone), and do a raelly good job cleaning. I've use them for regular maintenance cleaning, but used them for post construction cleaning and even snow shoveling before too.

I highly recommend my cleaning Services. Her name is Bertha and she has been cleaning my house for over 5 years and it has been a very rewarding experience. Our house is the best it has ever looked due to her high cleaning standards. The detail that goes into her work is exceptional and she is very friendly and trustworthy.

I highly recommend Bertha. Her contact info:

Someone else recommended Clean Popo in this thread and I'd definitely like to second that.

They showed up on time. The cleaners were nice and the team leader (the person who drives them to their jobs) was professional and very friendly. The cleaners did a great job. The owner will get back to you right away if you have questions or concerns. I thought they were reasonably priced. (Had them super clean my hardwood floors and clean the oven. About $80.)

They also do painting and "handyman" work like installing window blinds.

I don't think $72,000 annual salary is a "lot" of money in the NYC area. Especially where there are likely insurance/expenses that must come off the top. That is not to presume anything about anyone's financial situation or other---but I just don't think that is a very big salary. That said, I don't disagree with bargaining for a lower price whenever it makes sense and the parties agree.

Hah i didn't bother to check this in a while and didn't notice people are being typical d-bags.

just some simple math for you. i am asking for 75 per visit every two weeks. lets assume she can fit 4 cleanings a day at $75(of course some may be more or less) and that 5 days a week that's 1500 a week or 3000 every two weeks or 6000 a month. Of course this is take home, she might have cost of course and even some prices that may be higher or lower or even work 6 days a week. Prob. this is more than you make a month. but its not a small income.

either way, my point is that is fallacious reasoning to assume that she isn't making enough money and that $10 is a big deal to her or even to assume that $10 isn't a big deal to me. (you don't know me or my situation, i could be paraplegic for all you know). And 75 is pretty competitive compared to the 85 she was asking, which is prob. inflated due to building and area of hamilton park i live in.

fyi i got her to go down $10.

We have been using a women from Hoboken, she is very good she advertises all the time on craigslist. She services JC, Bayonne and Hoboken her rates are 75-250 depending on the size of your space and if you want her to do laundry, dog walking and grocery shopping.

I have a 3 bd room 2 bath and she is in by 10 am and out by 1 pm. excellent work and does not use nasty smelly chemicals, and she also does clean outs after you move from one space and clean up for your new space.

What's the latest info? I just dropped my cleaning service of 10 years. I have no special needs except that I'd like someone independent, i.e., the same person or crew every cleaning, trustworthy and with their own equipment and supplies. Thanks.

I am looking for recommendations for a more heavy-duty cleaning service than regular maintenance cleaning. I have recently done some construction, painting, etc., and need thorough washing, dusting, some minor debris removal. Not major construction or rubble, but definitely more extensive than just a routine cleaning. Thank you.

Maybe you should go to C-Town and 99 Cent Dream and pick up some cleaning supplies and do the cleaning yourself if you don't want to pay people competitive wages for doing your grunt work.

Agreed. Most people who do this type of work value $10. Most people who contract people who do this type of work can afford the $10. Clean your own house for a couple of months and see if the extra $10 was worth it.

After a couple of not great situations with independent cleaners, we started using Kim's Cleaning Service. It's obviously not an individual person, but it's small, and Kim is very hands-on, often stopping by to check on the work of her staff. We typically have the same cleaners every time they come (every other week). We have been really pleased with the work and the professionalism.

I got a referral from a my cousin in Hoboken recommending a housekeeping service she has been using for a while called Clean Popo. Funny name, but I just tried them out and came on here to sing their praises. Hoboken level service and a very informative website... http://www.cleanpopo.com

I just used Spotless Planet on Monday as they were recommended in this (albeit old) thread. They were phenomenal! The place has never been so clean and they did it so quickly it was incredible (faster than when I had Regina's clean). Very reasonably priced too at $55/hour for two cleaners.

One note is that they are supposed to use all natural cleaners which I wanted because I don't like ammonia around my cats. They did use Simple Green and Murphy's Oil Soap. But I think they also used Windex on the windows (yes, they did the windows too!). But I didn't actually confirm it. I'll definitely use them again and ask them at that point.
