Workout Buddy?

Not too shy to talk
Not too shy to talk

Hi, I'm trying to get back into the mix of things and am hoping to find someone in downtown JC that wants to work out (in a local gym, with weights) and do some light cardio. I'm hoping to do this several times a week.

Anyone interested in meeting up? Perhaps there is a local club in the area? No 5-7am workouts please!

You are correct. Bought a shirt for the lady, returned it a day later. No returns and stuck with the credit.

Hi everyone. Long story short - I have a store credit at Vivi Girl (Jersey Ave) for $59.95. Does anyone want to exchange it for cash? We can meet in the store, talk to the owner, etc to make it super not sketchy.

If I'm understanding your statement correctly, along with the rest of the responses, I imagine these guys get some nice payout to switch. But, it's a numbers game. If this is legal, they need some serious training and a better approach to lead to better conversions.

Now get off my lawn!

PSE&G Scammers?

Someone just came to my door saying they were with PSE&G. She showed me a dirty PSE&G bill on a clipboard and asked if I received my rebate, I said no and she asked to come in. I told her no. We went back and forth, she asked to come in a second time and look at the utility setup. I closed the door on her and she rang the doorbell a third time. There was someone standing next to her (out of my view) and didn't announce herself. She also made it a point to come over the threshold uninvited. Very suspicious. No id.

She was a young black woman (22-25) in a light coat and a colored winter hat.

Reserving a JITNEY?

Hi guys, this may sound like an insane question but is it possible to reserve a jitney for an in-town trip? I thought it'd be an easy way to transport 20 people or so from one end of town to the other.

I am on the Borgata site and have no problem. I've played a zillion hands and find the play to be pretty good. Not like I remember on PartyPoker. I've also made a few bones off the blackjack.

I'm on Verizon FiOS

Why would you want a large dog if you live in a small space? Maybe you have a huge apt but where is the Great Dane supposed to exercise? It's illegal to keep a dog off leash on the street and in parks except for dog runs. I can't imagine a dog run would make a Great Dane happy.

Seriously think about the welfare of the Great Dane. Why a Great Dane? Why not a smaller breed?

actually, Great Danes are one of the few large breeds that do well in small spaces:

http://www.dogguide.net/blog/2008/01/ ... cts-about-the-great-dane/

that said, I too would encourage the OP to look into a shelter dog or, if his heart is set on a Dane, go through a breed-specific rescue organization, like this one: http://www.magdrl.org/availabledogs.htm

This is great advice. Thank you!

Questions for Great Dane owners

Hi everyone, I'm thinking of getting a Great Dane - but would like to hear the opinion of the owners in JC. I've seen a lot of these dogs in downtown, so I know you're around.

Are they tough dogs to have in an apartment? Separation issues? Issues with the landlord?

Thanks!

I'm not sure why anyone is complaining.

I've seen roughly a dozen of the Dixon properties. The contractors do fantastic work turning outdated apartments into modern, well-crafted apartments. All units have stainless steel appliances, washer/dryer (if they fit), new windows along with hardword floors and plumb walls. These units are pretty nice, in my opinion.

If all the units in downtown were this nice, the rents would be substantially higher.

Also, to the one guy that said his rent was raised 80% - that is illegal. If that was the case, you should have taken them to court.

Found it myself:

"Alternate-side parking rules will also be suspended the week between Christmas and New Year (Dec.
26th through Jan. 2nd), but the sweeper will still sweep the streets. Any cars that do not move will not
be ticketed. During that week, however, zone parking and meters will still be enforce"

Does suspending alternate side of the street parking mean I can get away with parking in a 2-hour parking zone without a permit?? Monday, December 26th?

Hey guys,

I'm looking for the contact info for that new Thai place on Jersey Ave, near Wayne. It took over a small coffee house a few months ago - and I can't seem to find anything on the internet.

Any ideas?

Hi everyone,

I'm wondering if there is a place to listen to some classical music in JC. Large ensembles, small quartets, and whatever else.

I know the Loews theater in JSQ occasionally has an event, but I'm looking for something a bit more routine.

Yes, I agree about the affordability of using Elance.com. I've used it in the past and got pretty solid results. This time around though I am looking for something much more straight forward and would really love to have a local artist or programmer to have some insight into the page design. If anyone knows anyone that might fit the bill please let know.

Hey guys,

I'm looking for a web developer that could help with the initial planning and coding for a fairly simple website. It'd probably be based off word press with some simple php. The thing is, I don't want to spend much money on it but need a people to contact with more information.

Does anyone know of anyone that might be interested?

Bar with big time view of NYC?

Hey everyone,

I'm wondering if there are any bars (maybe in Exchange Place or Pavonia areas) that have a great view of NYC? I was thinking that one of the high rise hotels could possibly have a bar on the top floor - but none of my friends seem to know.

Any ideas?

Re: Obtaining a Variance?

Hah, I admit that I was not around when the news broke. In all seriousness though, corruption or no, I've been told by several people that the process can be drawn out over several years and be incredibly expensive.

For the sake of business, I'd have no problem offering a few handouts here and there - it's done pretty much everywhere from the pharmaceutical industry on - but I have a feeling that it's not feasible.

Has anyone actually tried doing this? Or looked into it? I called the development board last Friday and some woman actually laughed at me on the phone and said "Honey, Hoboken is full!" Pretty encouraging, really.

Does anyone know how difficult it is to obtain a variance? I am interested in changing a residential four-story into a commercial property. The building will largely remain unchanged. Is this something that typically is granted in downtown Jersey City?

Re: Zeppelin Hall Beer Garden - Opening Night

I was there on Friday night and I didn't see a passport program or anything like that. In all honesty, it doesn't seem to be completely finished: There was no music, the decorations weren't up, there were very few waitresses/servers, the food menu was incomplete, etc. I would say that improvements will be made over the next few weeks.

And to all you complainers out there, this is the best beer bar in the area. The one in Queens has a very limited indoor seating and the menu is horrible. The one in Brooklyn is only indoor and very little seating. If you're going to complain about being outside and listening to the lightrail go by, I'd say you should probably move to Hoboken.
