While Chipotle is great, the sauces and optional flavorings at Qdoba are quite good.

You guys are right- was thinking of Qdoba. I actually like Qdoba a little better...I know that is heresy in some parts!

They have a Qdoba in Hoboken too so many there is room for a Chipotle in JC in addition to the Hoboken one.

Not sure why you think there is a Chipotle in the mall. They DO have a Qdoba.

Regardless, I am not sure such a location would appeal to people that normally get off at the Grove Street PATH. It would also incur an additional ~$2 for people that do not live in the Newport area, as they would have to ride the light rail, or PATH, to get to their final destination.

Tommy, the article beginning on page 60 discusses 8 Erie Street, the restaurant and the market.

OK, so yeah, looks like an Italian specialty market with a coffee bar. Which by the way, sounds amazing. But it doesn't sound like it will be a standard market to get produce, meat, fish, and other items.

There is most certainly NOT a Chipotle in the mall. I wish there was, but alas.

Well, this is out of my area expertise but the mall crowd and the commuting Grove St. crowd doesn't have a lot of overlap IMO. People coming back from the PATH and want to get something quick won't go to the mall to get it.

Grove St. needs more takeout spots that aren't pizza parlors. If not a Chipotle, Digg Inn, Just Salad, Chopt, Hummus and Pita Co, etc than a Wegmans hot food section would work as well.

Whole Foods is double to triple the price of TJ's. Give me a Trader Joe's any day.

?The Non-GMO Project has reached out to Trader Joe?s a number of times over the years, and we remain hopeful that at some point we will be able to forge a meaningful partnership with them. To date, it has been very difficult to ascertain the credibility of their non-GMO claims. We know that many consumers believe Trader Joe?s to be a GMO-free store, but without transparent standards or third-party verification this is impossible to confirm. Many other retailers?independent grocers, co-ops, and Whole Foods Market?are leading the way by requiring rigorous testing and labeling, and it would be great to see Trader Joe?s follow suit.?

It sure looks like there would be ample space for some sort of market at this location. There will be 14,120 square ft. of retail at the base of 70-90 Columbus.

Not for nothing, but I heard a while back that there was a deal in place for a TJs in that space. That was before construction though so who knows if it was accurate or still applies.

Good article. Since TJ re-brands everything on their paper, we can't really be sure we're eating GMO or organic.

With all the new buildings going up in the immediate area, this is seeming more and more viable. Here's hoping!

i really dont get trader joe, i went to the one in edgewater for the first time with high expectations, but walked out literally empty handed.

They dont seem to sell anything normal? it's all this weird brand/stuff i never heard of. Even the checkout is strange, you ring a bell? wtf....

not sure how you went out empty handed.. what were you looking for?

still, trader joe's is overrated. it's great for snacks but if you want to eat unprocessed food, than it's not so great. the produce/meat section is okay, nothing special.

I have to agree that Trader Joe's was a disappointment. I went to the one on Rt 17N. There was no real wow factor.

Fairway Markets, on the other hand, was just plain great. Wish they were here.

I'm waiting to see what the market that will be opening at 8 Erie Street will have. If they sell fresh fish than, for my shopping needs, Whole Foods is over kill. In the meantime I will continue to surrupticiously sprinkle growth hormone into the tanks of the new pet shop that opened on Jersey with the hope that the owner sees four pound guppies as a business spin off.
