Who is Michael Billy, and why should we care what he says?

This is the opinion of a candidate who dropped out of the race.

Yeah, you may as well stop smearing Symes. Your posts smack of desperation. Give it up.

Or, put another way, 95% of the properties on that list were owned by people or entities other than Dixon.

I love how some of you sour grapes losers keep going on an on about Dixon and Symes, but your "facts", innuendo, and theories are tenuous (at best) and downright silly sometimes.

So, yes, Dixon benefited from a city policy, but they were a tiny minority of those that benefitted!

Literally every post you've ever posted on JC List is to smear Symes. You have zero credibility at this point. I'm not voting for her but even I am so over your posts.

Much like Saint Solomons house on 4th street. Estimated value 1.1 million(  paid 783k in 2015) Taxes $4400

Saint Solomon benefitted from the same city policy as Dixon. Do as i say not as i do.

quid pro quo-

http://www.nj.com/hudson/index.ssf/20 ... sessments_homeowners.html

"The four-story Montgomery Street home was recently renovated, which hiked the property's tax bill by more than $17,000. If the added assessments are canceled, the homeowner would keep the lower tax bill.

That owner is Dixon Advisory, a real-estate investment trust that has been scooping up properties all across Jersey City. Dixon owns at least two dozen of the 485 properties on the list obtained by The Jersey Journal. Of the six properties on the list that would see the largest tax hikes, five are owned by Dixon, which purchased 237 Montgomery St. in 2012, renovated it and initially intended to rent it for $9,990 a month. A video produced by Dixon calls the home "the most luxurious rental" in Jersey City."

Yes, as outside capital pours into our city and seeps into our political system, Conrad's thematic summation of the devastation wrought by a distant colonial capitalism does easily spring to mind.

Even the often referenced Waterfront Project is sponsored by Dixon Leasing, along with our old friends Carepoint.

https://www.thewaterfrontproject.org/our-supporters/

I would hope that their sponsorship of this worthy cause is as equally generous as the combined $1.3 million these two top donors gave to Fulop's super PAC.

http://www.nj.com/hudson/index.ssf/20 ... are_they_connected_1.html

The Carepoint money resulted in the Ambulance contract debacle.

What might that Dixon money have bought?

From her profile (emphasis mine) -

Rebecca manages relationships with elected officials, government agencies, and community stakeholders with the primary objective of identifying shared interests and maximizing opportunities for collaboration. Of course her fellowship was accompanied by a gift from Dixon in excess of $5000.

The funny thing is that Dixon's political colors show. Had the city and the state been more republican, the Dixon money would have gone to the GOP. When it comes to political expediency, nothing serves as a better indicator than how much money a company is willing to invest into its lobbying efforts. And Dixon has poured money into the city and into the community. Their chosen lobbyist (with federal experience through the senate) is burning up quicker than a dry forest in California during a drought.

Somebody on Symes Team needs to tell the guy dressed in the the white shirt/red down vest to slow his speed on Washington Street.

@ 2:50, the driver of a silver Acura came flying up Washington to a 4 way stop sign intersection at Sussex and Washington, by the school and Satis Restaurant. The Symes office is on that opposite block.

First I thought he was going to blow through the Wash St. stop sign because of the speed. I am not sure if he saw me watching, or he saw the sign at the last second. Made an abrupt stop and rolled through intersection. I saw him park and walk into Symes storefront. All those stop Wash St. signs are there for that reason.

Solomon and Hudnut( Not Grillo)bullied Symes at every opportunity during the debates.  I wish she had told them to shut up.

A few thoughts on Dixon.. they buy properties , the fix do a splendid job renovating the homes then rent or sell them. They employ scores of Jersey City residents. Rebecca Symes worked at Dixon. She has a very impressive resume and had the pleasure to work with her on several

occassions. Is she amitious? So what.

With an upcoming revaluation the city changed a policy that benefited hundreds of property owners, nluding Dixon Properties and  James Solomon. James fails to mention this

why is that?James fails to mention the city will collect over 20 million more to payments at The Oakman then if the building was built as a rental.

Has anyone ever seen a Dixon rental downtown for $2000 per month? I've yet to see such a great deal.

If Solomon pays $4400 per year for his property, at least he is a property owner in the city and pays his way just like everyone else.

Symes is Dixon...Dixon is Symes. Simple as that.

it would appear that 07302 is shilling for someone for a reason.

The ran in Ward E apparently is the only one that has incurred such rampant crap from a few again shills

shill
In conspiracy terms: A Shill is a person who is pretending to agree with a conspiracy and intentionally circulates false information or acts totally insane in an effort to discredit said conspiracy. Shills are often thought to be hired by the government but don't necessarily have to be.

The sweetheart deal on the duplex is a well-known secret as is the quid pro quo between the Dixon money to Steve and her appointment to the library board. But, it is not the Dixon money that is driving this election or her candidacy. There are larger developers that want to control (and least an ally) on council, etc. She is ready, willing, and able.

BTW, just curious ... has anyone among the pro and contra Symes surrogates ever wondered what work she will be doing in addition to her work on council (once elected)? Rebecca Symes purchased a waterfront condo in Hoboken when she moved to NJ in 2013 and began working for Dixon Advisory.

In August of 2015 she rented a two bedroom Dixon owned duplex with garden, 3 blocks from Grove Street, for a sweetheart rent of $2000 pcm.

http://clients3.weblink.com.au/pdf/URF/01680858.pdf

It is hard to say when she actually moved from Hoboken because she kept and still owns that apartment and was filing campaign contributions for Hillary Clinton using her Hoboken address as late as July 2016.

http://docquery.fec.gov/cgi-bin/fecimg/?201708319071273670

What is clear is that Rebecca Symes declared her Ward E candidacy 1 year and 10 months after her earliest possible claim to residency in Jersey City.

August 2015 was a busy month for Rebecca as moving to Jersey City coincided with her being appointed by Mayor Fulop to the Jersey City Library board.

August 2015 also saw Dixon Advisory give $200,000 to Fulop's Coalition for Progress

https://www.opensecrets.org/outsidespe ... 0582841&type=A&cycle=2016

Within three months of moving to Jersey City Symes was appointed secretary and board member of the Harsimus Cove Association.
This came a few months after the association had begun to receive sponsorship money from Dixon.

http://www.harsimuscove.org/event/hca-general-meeting/2015/04/13

A snapshot of HCA sponsors from the month she was appointed show 16 local businesses.

https://web.archive.org/web/2015111523 ... harsimuscove.org/sponsors

Under Symes tenure the number of sponsors reduced to Dixon Advisory and 3 others, as it remains to this day.

http://www.harsimuscove.org/sponsors

Nothing but facts.

However well meaning she may be it is difficult to view Symes presence in Jersey City as anything but a cynical and calculated play for power, one backed financially by her employers and the interests of real estate.

Sounds like an outright lie from James Solomon's campaign. Rebecca never owned a home in Hoboken. A simple property search would reveal that.

Did She live there? But she paid rent out of her own pocket. Something that spoiled smug brat Solomon wouldn't know anything about.

I wonder how much money his mommy and daddy are going to kick in for the run-off?

Can u explain why James Solomon fails to mention that he greatly benefits from the city no longer reassessing properties after renovations. James is one of over 400 property owners

who benefitted from the city policy. James pays  approximetly $4400  a year for a property that was purchased for $783k in 2015.

It is hard to say when she actually moved from Hoboken because she kept and still owns that apartment and was filing campaign contributions for Hillary Clinton using her Hoboken address as late as July 2016.

Within three months of moving to Jersey City Symes was appointed secretary and board member of the Harsimus Cove Association.
This came a few months after the association had begun to receive sponsorship money from Dixon.

A snapshot of HCA sponsors from the month she was appointed show 16 local businesses.

Under Symes tenure the number of sponsors reduced to Dixon Advisory and 3 others, as it remains to this day.

Nothing but facts.

However well meaning she may be it is difficult to view Symes presence in Jersey City as anything but a cynical and calculated play for power, one backed financially by her employers and the interests of real estate.
