I returned to the office Mar 8th and wait for the 80 Bus on Newark across from Healy's and I have not seen one jitney during this time, when pre-pandemic I used to see tons. I know this isn't helpful, but I just assumed they shortened or stopped that route.

There needs to be some kind or regulation for these stinky little buses. Are they not inspected?

The jitney from NYC to paterson runs at all hours of the night. I've taken it in the wee hours before. Perhaps you can take that to JFK Blvd and 32nd street, and then take an Uber from there up in the direction of Fort Lee? It's cheaper than taking an Uber from the city.

There are no published timetables or SLAs... if there is demand later at night, the buses will eventually adapt and provide a best-effort service... but I would probably take Uber anyway

does anyone know how late into the night (and how frequently) the jitneys run between Newport and Fort Lee? (I believe this is the Bergenline route)

I wish the jitney buses would not belch burning oil so much.

I wish the jitneys would run an express route into manhattan.

start at JSQ, go down JFK Blvd, then turn right at Congress and head into the Lincoln Tunnel via the Hoboken viaduct. It would cut commute times by about 15-20 mins.

Not every bus would be an express bus obviously, but maybe one every 5-10 mins during peak hours.

How do we go about recommending this change?

CRACK DOWN NOW

We need enforcement of traffic laws that are on the books, and don't scape-goat the jitneys.

That last line...! Jitneys might be (relatively) safe for those riding one, but if you are driving or riding behind one, you would be well advised to not do so. Those guys are aggressive about picking up fares and will often stop on a dime, or do the "slash" change of lane. I hate jitneys and the way they behave on the road. I get that they fill a need for a lot of people, but there really ought to be more oversight of them.

$1.50 seems to be for anywhere within Jersey City. They generally stop at bus stops, but don't always follow the same route (if there is traffic, for instance) so it is best to ask.

Are they safe? Yes, they are fine - I've been taking them on-and-of for 8 years without a problem. The jitneys are noisy, rattle, uncomfortable seats, and the AC is unreliable, but on the main routes they come pretty regularly, which is their main advantage over NJ transit buses.

i think it is $1.50 from palisad to either jsq or newport. you pay when you get off u can also get a jitney to port authority-42nd street in the mornings as well. it would be great if they could get these jitneys on central avenue into port authority.

I just moved backed to Jersey City and I am on Palisade Ave in the Heights. I wondering about price of taking the jitney bus to Journal Square or Newport. I took one before with my friend years ago. I also read some articles that they can be dangerous, any change in that?

In general what do you do when you get on the bus? For NJ Transit it is clear. Thank you!
