This is the most recent I could find/last thing I saw about that area (yes, going to be a new courthouse): http://www.nj.com/hudson/index.ssf/20 ... garage_and_land_swap.html

Did the re-development project on Cook street (near the County Courthouses) get cancelled?
Originally, it was going to be similar to the development on St. Pauls Ave & Oakland (same developer I think). The signs showing the planned development are gone and it looks like the land is being used for parking by the County. Did the County take this property as part of the new planned court house? https://www.google.com/maps/@40.7333617,-74.05718,20.5z

First post after reading in the forum for a while
See below what I read about 520 Palisade in a recent email from the Riverview Neighborhood Association, there was also I meeting about the project but I was unable to attend. The email also had a rendering but don't know how to insert. 520 Palisade Ave - conversion of existing building to multi-use (old firehouse). The developer has revised the project to lower the height in the back (it's now about 10 feet higher than the existing structure) and added some parking spaces.

That's funny - I drove by today, saw the permit on the window and wondered the same thing. That place is an awesome property. It used to be a firehouse. There's a huge space on the bottom floor, a small, school-like gymnasium on the second floor and a (potentially) kick ass apartment that overlooks the skyline. I looked at the property a while ago but there was a remediation issue there if I remember correctly. The uses were amazing.

Anyone know what is being built on East side of JFK Blvd around Cliff (where the taxi place used to be)? Seems like a large bit of property that is being excavated.

I'm looking forward to this going up also but I REALLY hope they put in a restaurant with a liquor license. It would do so much for the area to have a nice place to go for brunch or something, right there. I heard that "The Oasis" has been, unofficially for sale for years now but is way too expensive. How great though, if it got a makeover, as well.

I've been watching the existing building come down - here is the proposed new development. Personally, I'm excited about seeing some change, even if I'm not crazy about the design. Seeing the historic cobblestone street restored will be great!

I received the following notice in the mail:
620 Palisade Ave Our company will be presenting a proposal for redevelopment of the property to the neighbors and the neighborhood association. The proposal will be for a 22 residential units with commercial space and 16 parking spaces on the ground floor. Francisco builders

Broker can't be very serious about renting it if he can't be bothered to snap some pics with his phone.

The new storefront from my OP has been done for a while, and for rent here. I'm amazed such a careful restoration was done without a tenant in mind! If there was a way to post a photo, I would, but here is the rendering - if you've been by it and/or have heard if anyone is considering opening a business please share!

Wow, this Dulce de Leche is really game changer for me that is going to raise the bar in the Heights.. I don't want to raise expectations for anyone who has not tried it yet but quality is an A, ambiance is an A, and prices are way less than places of similar quality. I had a sausage sandwich on fresh bread with some kind of delicious sauce with fries for like 6.99. I shared an egg sandwich on a croissant, some type of spinach mini quiche, a few empanadas and was very pleased.
I just may have to gain 20 lbs this winter!

I can't believe I missed that Dulce de Leche bakery opened on Central. I walked by at closing time last night and it looks beautiful. Their first one is way up in North Bergen and the 2 times I went it was packed and everything I tried was delicious. I may have to walk over for breakfast in a few hours!

i know several "sneakerheads" and they wear them. they treasure them and take insanely good care fo them. the resale scene for sneakers is huge and 200 is on the very low end for most collectable sneakers. its a crazy thing.

I just took an evening stroll through the heights and saw a Japanese place is opening on Central. A few of the existing restaurants had decent crowds so maybe a restaurant row is in the works. The new Noches de Columbia was packed all the way around at 930 as well as most times I have walked by and when I got food there Sunday at 4pm.

i believe the city is trying to turn central avenue into a restaurant row. should be exciting for nearby residents...i think the area could use some outdoor dining.

I took off from work today and was walking around and noticed a gelato place is opening next to Pizza Masters (not sure if same owners as Pizza Masters). It also looks like the Wonder Bagels should not be far off from opening (and people were working on the apartments above WB). It could be a handsome brick building so nice to see it going from vacant blight to something useful.

The interviewee had several hundred pair, so I assume they are in a nitrogen filled vault at an undisclosed location. It's funny, he talked about the desire to wear unique sneakers, which is clearly at odds with a collectibles value. I just don't understand, but then I'm a hoarder/packrat, not a collector.

Do they wear them, or display in a glass cabinet?

Yeah it is amazing ?I recall a pair of Kanye West Nike Air Yeezy 2?s selling for around $200 when released a few years ago. Now if you can find them they are around $5,000. Nike Air Yeezy 2 - on Flight Club NYC http://www.flightclub.com/nike-air-ye ... ck-black-solar-red-090138 Also it seems everything is done by lottery now. You sign up a week before a release giving your name, address, phone #, and size to get a ticket. If you are lucky you will get called to come in and buy a pair the day of the release. I guess it stops the camping out and problems.

Ever heard about sneaker collectors? The podcast Econtalk is usually pretty wonky, but it had an interview with a guy who studies the sneaker collectible market, where people camp out to by limited edition Jordans and can resell $200 shoes for thousands. Who knew???
