The difference is the "Walk through." The big change for those in the neighborhood is could not get BK late hours without a car.

The difference is the "Walk through." I never saw a Checkers or Sonic with a walk through- it's more a walk up.

The big change for those in the neighborhood is could not get BK late hours without a car. The McDonalds you can. This is another solution to the minimal drunk food in the area.

This is really an off the wall crazy post. My understanding is that this McDonalds is not much different than a food truck except it's brick and mortar. You order outside... there is no inside for the public. I don't think it's legally considered a restaurant, the same as food trucks are not considered restaurants. Most every municipality has requirements regarding restrooms for restaurants... if I recall, Jersey City goes by the number of tables to determine if a restroom is required and how many.

Can't wait until Two Boots get McDonald's banned

So?

So, not really a "new kind of restaurant," is it?

New McDonald's concept gets test in Jersey City: Smaller, faster and standing room only

BY JOAN VERDON
STAFF WRITER | THE RECORD
APRIL 27, 2016, 6:45 PM LAST UPDATED: THURSDAY, APRIL 28, 2016, 8:12 AM

People who approach the McDonald?s on 12th Street in Jersey City, just two blocks from the entrance to the Holland Tunnel, often ask ?Where?s the door to the restaurant?? The answer? There?s no door, and no restaurant, at least not the kind McDonald?s customers are used to.

This McDonald?s is a new model being tested by the nation?s largest fast food chain in Jersey City, as well as in Texas, Georgia, and Washington State, and it is the first of its kind in the Northeast. The McDonald?s, which opened in February, has a walk-up window for ordering and picking up food, and two drive-through lanes for cars, but no indoor seating areas or ordering counters.
