what do you guys think would be a realistic outcome on how much taxes could change? i am seeing #'s ranging from a raise of 21-53%
i am of the thinking like below that if you recently purchased your house the #'s would be close to what they should be given the sale #'s but cant trust that thinking.

I had assumed since we bought our place only two years ago, the tax rate would have been readjusted to factor in the sale price at that time, so any reval should have minimal impact on us. Now I begin to get the sense that this may not be the case...

Based on public records, Yvonne has more square footage than me, and she pay less to the city, and she also gets homestead benefit. And she has a parking space.

In order to complete revaluations by November 2017, the city would have to be active in hiring a firm. It takes a year or more to do this work. I doubt if JC would use the work done under Healy.

I can certainly factor in the potential increased rate to what we can afford, but is there any benefit if we hold off another 18 months to see what happens here?

Monroe, no one cares. CC and the bridge scandal are both history. OJ was exonerated too, but everyone knows the truth.

The big difference is that Fulop is open about his involvement in delaying the reval, and nothing has been found to tie Christie to the traffic jams outside the GWB.

will this become jersey city's "bridgegate?"
will jersey city be out the $3.2m contract cost plus legal fees, the company's and ours? and then have to start the reval all over again because it now must be done anyway (the mayor's new line)? i doubt the 2012 numbers can still be used 5 years later. so millions of dollars wasted, to what end? just like with bridgegate, is this turning into a legal rip-off? "reval-gate"

We have spent $325,000 to bring this case to court. Now you have to add the time the lawyers spent in court, those are billable hours. How long is the court case so far, a week? Then there is the appeal, the city can drag this out because we, the public, are paying for this. I might be underestimating the $1 million figure.

The city is arguing that because the city made changes the re-appraisal company should suffer? Changes that never were implemented because the city backed out of the deal? Sorta like the kid who killed his parents, then asked for leniency from the judge because he was an orphan!

What is there to say? The city council votes on these legal fees, not the mayor. Legal fees are higher when you appeal. This is common sense. If you want this to stop, contact the city council. They are the ones who has the legal authority to vote no when Fulop pushes more legal fees.

Judge deals blow to Jersey City in reval case By JERSEY CITY — A Hudson County judge today dealt a major blow to Jersey City in the breach-of-contract trial initiated by Realty Appraisal Co., with the judge dismissing a counterclaim filed by the city that had represented the crux of its defense. The city's counterclaim alleged that there was a conflict of interest when Realty Appraisal, which was selected in 2011 to perform the citywide revaluation, hired Brian O'Reilly, the former city business administrator, soon after his 2010 retirement from his city post. The conflict-of-interest claim is almost the entirety of the city's argument that it should not have to pay the roughly $1 million that was remaining in Realty Appraisal's contract when Mayor Steve Fulop halted the reval in 2013. But Superior Court Judge Francis B. Schultz this afternoon ruled that witness testimony did not back up the city's claims that O'Reilly had any significant role in the city's selection of Realty Appraisal in 2011. Contract for Dem law firm in Jersey City reval trial could reach $325KBy JERSEY CITY — The Bernardsville law firm defending the city in the breach-of-contract case that revolves around the canceled reval may get another contract extension next week, which would bring the total contract to $325,000.
