Plus....a lot of people enjoy fixing things, even in today's disposable world. A talented guy could probably fix that "broken" treadmill for about 40 bucks in parts. Agree with everybody else - put it outside, it will be gone within an hour.

What others have said about the scrap collectors is so true. It really is incredible. I have seen those guys driving around and they waste NO TIME. If they spot anything that looks remotely metallic, they will pull over, get off their pick ups, inspect it with a quick glance over and make a quick, on-the-spot decision, and then move on. They work fast, and appear/disappear in no time.

Just leave it at the curb, some junk collector or scrapper will pick it up.

What kind of idiot looks at a free treadmill on the side of the road, or someone's yard, and doesn't consider the possibility that it may not work?

If it's mostly metal then put it at the curb. The scrap metal guy's who drive around the city with pick-up trucks looking for scrap metal. The scrappers must have radar or something because they will find it with in a couple of hours.

Or give JCIA a call and schedule a pickup. They'll tell you when to leave it out at the curb. It's free.

And put a piece of paper with "FREE" on it. Or, you can try: - there's a facebook group called SwapJC - post on Craigslist I've done both with free stuff in the past, and people really, really love FREE stuff!
