And there are probably groups who are proud that they had gay parents. Great, you found a group out there that supports your bigot views. Their are groups out there for everything, just bc they exist doesn't make them right.

The point of this thread was about gay conversion therapy but in reality after gay marriage the focus has been conversion therapy on the public who profess a deep faith. There is direct intimidation such as St. Francis Church in Massachusetts threaten with arson for their sign stating a marriage is between a man and woman http://www.catholicnewsagency.com/new ... gn-opposing-gay-marriage/ or the mayor of Houston using subpoenas to make sure churches do not preach against homosexuality http://www.christianpost.com/news/cit ... yor-annise-parker-128144/ but most of it is directed against small business owners that work in the wedding industry as a baker or florist. Even if the florist hires gays as employees http://www.newsmax.com/Newsmax-Tv/Was ... CLU/2015/02/24/id/626583/ I have no interest in converting anyone, but same sex laws are being used against people of faith. There are 2,000 exemptions for religion including not receiving the measles vaccine. Interesting, one growing group against same sex marriage are the adult children who was raised by same sex homes. They are writing letters to the court on this subject. http://thechristians.com/?q=content/a ... against-same-sex-marriage

A cake is flour, sugar, shortening, leaven and flavor. It's measure, mix, bake...and sell. The baking and selling of a cake is the same regardless of what the buyer is going to do with it after the cake has left the bakery. (American Pie?) IT"S JUST A CAKE.

If baking and selling a cake for a same sex marriage is viewed as
"participating or endorsing sin" then why aren't they raising a ruckus about selling guns that might be used in suicides or homicides?....or are those acts NOT offensive to their "sincerely held religious beliefs"?

Doesn't. Nor does any Yvonne's drivel form part of the catholic church's teaching afaik. She's acting as her own god as far as I can tell.

Read me the part where it says you have the right to "inflict Yvonne's interpretation of the catholic religion in dealings with others"?

The federal government is obliged by many constitutional provisions to respect the individual citizen?s basic rights. Some civil liberties were specified in the original document, notably in the provisions guaranteeing the writ of habeas corpus and trial by jury in criminal cases (Article III, Section 2) and forbidding bills of attainder and ex post facto laws (Article I, Section 9). But the most significant limitations to government?s power over the individual were added in 1791 in the Bill of Rights. The Constitution?s First Amendment guarantees the rights of conscience, such as freedom of religion, speech, and the press, and the right of peaceful assembly and petition.

Did you read the part about rights of conscience, such as freedom of religion?

Does the bible say: "you shall not sell stuff like wedding cake to gays?" The catholic catechism? The pope? Jesus? Your priests?

You are projecting your bigotry on to the words of Jesus and the bible - and i'd say that's a much bigger sin in your faith than anything you are implying. How dare you presume to know the will of your professed god? Want to guess which deadly sin you're breaking?

Have a chat with Mao - who's probably a seminary drop-out or defrocked priest - but a smart guy how knows his catholic stuff. Go to confession, say 200 rosaries, receive holy communion. Get back to us and when you're truly contrite and then you're forgiven ;)

I guess being force to deny your religion is not a big thing if you don't have religion. But you are a person of faith, you are being forced to called Jesus a liar when he said a man leaves his father and mother and clings to his wife and the two will be on flesh...this is the Father's intent. If he denied a birthday cake, then I would agree but the issue is strictly based on being reprogrammed against your religion in order to save your business. Besides, the US Constitution says our rights comes from God/Creator not from government. Personally, I believe 1984 has arrived. The author said people will be reprogrammed. And this is exactly what is happening. Those students who were killed in Kenya were asked if they were Christians and they said yes and were killed. We are doing something similar, while we are not killing people we are suing them to death. By the way, the Hitler loving father was told no when he asked for a birthday cake, I believe by Walmart for his son who he named Adolph Hitler but no one called out the bakery, then.

WASHINGTON ? A 17-year-old transgender youth, Leelah Alcorn, stunned her friends and a vast Internet audience in December when she threw herself in front of a tractor-trailer after writing in an online suicide note that religious therapists had tried to convert her back to being a boy.

In response, President Obama is calling for an end to such therapies aimed at ?repairing? gay, lesbian and transgender youth. His decision on the issue is the latest example of his continuing embrace of gay rights.

In a statement that was posted on Wednesday evening alongside a WhiteHouse.gov petition begun in honor of Ms. Alcorn, Mr. Obama condemned the practice, sometimes called ?conversion? or ?reparative? therapy, which is supported by some socially conservative organizations and religious doctors.

The petition has received more than 120,000 signatures in three months.

?We share your concern about its potentially devastating effects on the lives of transgender as well as gay, lesbian, bisexual and queer youth,? the statement, written by Valerie Jarrett, a senior adviser to Mr. Obama, says. ?As part of our dedication to protecting America?s youth, this administration supports efforts to ban the use of conversion therapy for minors.?

In an interview on Wednesday, Ms. Jarrett said Mr. Obama had been moved by the story of Ms. Alcorn?s suicide. But she said the problem went far beyond Ms. Alcorn.

?It was tragic, but I will tell you, unfortunately, she has a lot of company,? Ms. Jarrett said. ?It?s not the story of one young person. It is the story of countless young people who have been subjected to this.?

Mr. Obama will not explicitly call for a federal law banning therapists from using such therapies on their patients, but he is open to conversations with lawmakers in both parties, White House officials said on Wednesday. Instead, he will throw his support behind the efforts to ban the practice at the state level.

Mr. Obama began his national political career opposed to gay marriage and accepting of limits on gays? serving in the military. But he now supports same-sex marriage and has sought greater equality of treatment for gay men and lesbians in the government and the private work force. In his first term, he pushed the Pentagon to end the ?don?t ask, don?t tell? policy that had kept gay service members from serving openly.

On Wednesday, Mr. Obama?s top aides also heralded new protections for gay federal workers that went into effect this week. Last summer, Mr. Obama issued executive orders to ban discrimination on the basis of gender identity and sexual orientation by federal contractors.

Officials also announced the creation of an ?all-gender restroom? in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, where many of the White House staff members work, to provide an additional option for transgender individuals who are not comfortable using either the men?s or women?s restrooms.

Therapists who advocate the use of the gender identity therapies promote them as a way of helping gay people change their sexual orientation. Those therapists reject claims that sexual orientation or identity is unchangeable and argue that gay or transgender identities should be reversed so that people can embrace their ?authentic? heterosexual selves.

People who provide gay-to-straight conversion therapy are committing fraud if they describe homosexuality as a mental disorder that can be cured, a state judge said Tuesday in a ruling a civil rights group predicted would deal a serious blow to the treatment's future across the nation.

The decision by Superior Court Judge Peter F. Bariso Jr., sitting in Hudson County, gives an edge to the four men and two parents suing Jews Offering New Alternatives for Healing or JONAH, accusing the Jersey City organization that promotes the treatment of violating New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act.

The decision is bound to have a far-reaching impact, said David Dinielli, deputy legal director for the Southern Poverty Law Center which brought the lawsuit.

Considering many of the "therapists" have turned around and denounced the entire concept of conversion therapy, sounds like a pretty good decision to me.

There are nutters in every religion, even the Jews have their fair share. What is strange is that they have a 'Jewish Gay Conversion' program, yet relocate their leaders or hide them from authorities who had preyed on children for sex - Obviously their 'Jewish Gay Conversion' doesn't work and/or they don't practice what they preach !

Here is a list to start with, that need the 'Jewish Gay Conversion' DESPERATELY !

Sad part is the man who catholics believe to be the mouthpiece to their god is second questioned and confronted by the bishops under him and a majority of the GOP who constantly try to show how religious they are by shoving hatred down our throats disguised as lessons in religion.

by choosing to use something as highly biased and ignorant as EWTN who has numerous shows, and articles where they claim homosexuality is a disease and or a cry for help or a last resort for sinners you have basically stated where you stand on this topic by quoting them.

and there have been instances where homosexuals have been told by the church they have not prayed hard enough and hence why they are gay (cant make this nonsense up)

in a nutshell you have revealed to be a closeted hateful person.

keep watching a station based on hate!

I usually watch the Catholic network EWTN, and a program came on about same sex attraction. It was 5 men and 2 woman. All seven decided to lead a chaste life, although many mentioned they are still attracted to the same sex. The men said an older male had sex with them at 13 or 14 years of age and the women said they were afraid of the abuse they saw in domestic violence with men and started dating women. If there was a link to the show I would post it.
The bottom line is, Catholics do not pray away gayness.
Also, I picked up I believe People's Magazine awhile back waiting in a doctor's office many years ago. It quoted the former partner of Anthony Perkins, apparently, Anthony was getting some flack from the gay community for going for treatment for his "gayness." His former partner told the community to leave Anthony alone because he was unhappy as a gay male. Anthony Perkins was still alive when this article came out. Do I think children should be subjected to this? No, but adults, like Anthony Perkins should have that choice. I understand the Archdiocese of Newark runs that program on living a chaste lifestyle called Courage.

In terms of promoting stupidity and ignorance, I?m not sure there is a close second to EWTN. A network run by complete scumbags.

Thank you and well said.

Yvonne, as much as I'd stand up for your right to express your opinion, you really are offensive to suggest that people "turn gay" when all medical and psychological evidence suggests otherwise. Conversion therapy or forcing a "chaste" life is debilitating, degrading and inhumane.

Obama called being gay a "lifestyle choice". (That was just a couple of weeks ago, I believe during an important interview about the State Of The Union)
Am I to understand that you consider his views really offensive as well?

What does Obama have to do with this thread? Is he actively shoving kids into conversion therapy? Is he actively going to bat for the bigots that want to prevent people to marry? Is he claiming, wrongly, that people are gay because of trauma or abuse like the bigots at EWTN?

I heard that gay people were putting gay chromosomes in JC water - For a fee, I've got a filter for that gay chromosome.

Just send a money order of $2K and I'll provide a 'special' tampon to put over your drinking cups when pouring the water in it!

Leaving a chaste life and for what Yvonne? So that that person can feel better about his/herself? In the eye of who, himself/herself, his/her parent, or wouldn't it be in your eyes or the eyes of your archbishop? And for what, so that they don't feel inferior, so that they can belong to your group? Yvonne, your comments are unworthy of the christian you pretend to be. Most catholics are laughing at these silly notions nowadays. Just come to the VWPA meetings (you remember that association do you?) you may run into some unchaste and happy couples with their kids and you know what? Marlene your successor has no issue with that. Why? Because she can see them as who they are instead of some high school fantasy. Hopefully you will see this too before you see the light.

Bless your heart.

The suggestion that gay is the result of an environmental stimulus, like abuse, is insulting. You should sit these conversations out... and I am sure the Catholic network is the place to go for unbiased projection and opinion.

The question that isnt answered is, 'Why is he unhappy being a gay man?' I'd gamble it comes from people like yourself that think gays are better of being chaste than in loving relationships.

How much longer before you leave JC?

You're a vile human being who needs reparative therapy.

But we knew that already.
