I think it's pretty obvious why people who are property owners in JC would be interested in how much property in the area is selling for.

its all the properties. I understand Ercolanos will stay open for a while during the approval process. Puccinis will close at the end of the month.

So true, the recipe is floating around JC, I haven't been able to get my hands on it. If anyone has it, they should post it.

Puccini's itself got 24 million or all the properties involved?

wow, Walters, you may be right. Both of those are long gone, but you may still be able to do that at the Barge Inn. All the old places had their specialities, Jules, Chicken Parm, Ilventos, thin pizza and their sauce. tripoli's and PiPi's had theirs as well. And don't forget, if Tripoli's was your local place, you most likely went to LaMagras or Difeos for pastry afterwards to bring home for desert. In westside, Roy's Buona Vista, on Mallory and Peterson's Bakery or Verga's on the blvd. The city in the 50s, 60s, and 70s was a special place. A city of strong neighborhoods, institutions and great food!! Puccini's was one of the last remnants of that city.

Who cares??? It's public knowledge. You've got to be kidding if you think it's tacky to talk about how much property is being sold for to developers. Its not like we're all sitting around here wondering how much someone spent on a wedding. Get a grip and try to think of something better to pick on Yvonne for.

Porto Leggero is the best Italian resturant that JC has ever had. Problem is you better show up there with a ICap expense account. Its definetly not for your average JC Joe. To really jog the memory the single best dish that was ever served in JC was the pasta primavera at Pipi's . followed closely by the country chicken at the Tripoli. Both long gone. The beauty of both those places was that while taking your grandmother out for Sunday dinner , you could get your football bets in .

15 Fox is a great place, just not a restaurant that you could stop in anytime. The local places, like Just Sonnys, are gone. The gentrification of JC is very limited and was/is not enough to save places like Puccinis, the Dante and Just Sonnys. Most of the new residents downtown don't explore the city beyond DT. I see that in my neighborhood.

thanks Never, I will need to order both, "for old times". I see its Pete's son, making the gravy ( sauce). The logo brought back many memories of having dinner there. thanks for the share.

wow, both Ilventos and Jules bring back fond memories. Remember, Jules had both the place on West Side and Franklyn Ave. Rita and Joes is still family run and a good place. BTW, the dumping on Puccinis is way out of line. If you ate in the restaurant, the food was good and at times, great and the service was old school and still one of the last place where you can eat on a white linen table and have a cloth napkin in you lap. For those comparing it with the Olive Garden, what the hell are you doing eating in an Olive Garden in the first place!! If you were looking for the bottomless pasta dish, Puccinis was not for you.

lol, relax, I agree with you. Its a pipe dream. Healy tried this and realized that it was not going to happen. But the real issue with Puccini's closing, is the lack of decent italian food on the west side of the city. We are talking a sit down place, so Carmines is out! Lacos is left in Greenville. What else is left on the west side of JC?

Again with this? Marion will never get a PATH station. Not in our lifetime, at least. The PA functions on a 10-year capital improvement plan. So, even if that was to get the green light today, it would likely be 10 years out. But, that's the least of the roadblocks. The 33rd St line terminates at JSQ. So, this dream Marion station would need to be added as a stop in the NWK/WTC line. That line is already the focus of two enhancements: one approved, one proposed. Harrison is supposed to get a major overhaul to the tune of 500 million dollars (an obscene project, really) and the Newark Airport proposed extension (I think it was quoted at 1.5 billion?) would make another enhancement to that line a PR / political non-starter. Any future enhancements or large expenditures in the PATH system should go towards the 33rd St line to deal with the excessive overcrowding that is KNOWN to become worse over the next few years. There are 20,000+ new units coming to JC, most of them DT, and the people barely fit into trains now. The PA needs to get the signal upgrade project finalized and then start working on the elongating of existing stations to be able to fit 10 cars.

The Casino couldn't hold a candle to Puccini's! Puccini's had an old school quality about it, white linen table cloths, good service, ect. It will be missed. Yes, the city is and has changed. The mayor is pushing for a path stop at the location. If he's successful, the neighborhood will boom.

It was always fun when towards the end of the evening the staff would start taking opened and unopened paid for wine bottles off the tables. Hence the Puccini label . I can't say I'm going to miss the place . I always preferred the chicken at the Casino anyway.

Why not? Many things are public documents, I am sure the developer will ask for an abatement and the selling price will be part of the ordinance.
