It's all about money, ain't a damn thing funny. You got to have a com in this land of milk and honey. If you are broke you should be single..

Yikes... you sound pretty angry. I don't think anyone in here said they need someone. Some people choose to remain single, and some others are single because of their actions. It doesn't mean they need (or, needed) someone. But, yes, needy people can be a turn off to some.

All of this assumes that "single" is something temporary, that must be changed. I am 53, single by choice and find this a wonderful area to live in. There is a such a mix of people - single, coupled LBGT and straight, a variety of cultures, so that no matter where your life choices have taken you, you feel part of the "mix".

I tend to believe you're a sad f**k if you think you need someone. Who wants needy people?

Hmmm.. I guess that explains the multitude of dating / introduction ads on JCLIST. The ones featuring Russian and Arab women always seem to have a young lady showing off her rather shapely behind.

During my brief dabble into online dating, I always made a point telling guys who lived in NYC that I could easily meet up with them in the city for that first (and second or third) meeting. I didn't want to freak them out with his whole living in JC and riding the PATH train thing. After all, they were already being incredibly open minded by not having Jersey as a deal breaker. In my younger days when I lived in Manhattan, it certainly would have been for me. Anyway, imagine my surprise and the goodwill this guy in Chelsea racked up when he said in an email he had already looked at the PATH map and suggested we meet up in JC.

What terrible metrics, and if you're a successful male if you can't score in NYC you can't score anywhere.

I can't recall having a problem here. I think it depends on what you're interested in.

True! However, I have never met a love interest in JC in all the years I have been here. The good news is, housing is so cheap I travel and found love on the west coast :)

People are sometimes single by choice...allowing oneself to be picky in waiting for the "right" one.

If you find yourself standing solo under the mistletoe this holiday season, you might not be to blame, especially if you live in Jersey City. A new study has found New Jersey's second largest city is among the worst for singles in the United States. WalletHub.com, a personal finance website, ranked the 150 most populated cities in the U.S. for those seeking "the right partner." The website considered such metrics as the percentage of singles, restaurant meal costs and the number of attractions per capita in each location. "The city one calls home dictates such important factors as the number of prospective partners, diversity of dating activities and costs of going out," the report states. According to WalletHub.com, Jersey City and New York rank Nos. 144 and 145 respectively. (If you're willing to move, Boise, Idaho, Madison, Wisconsin, and Denver, Colorado are the top three cities for singles). More
