I use to go to this bar years ago, it was called The Cage, and about 80% of their clientele were JC folks and the other percentage were Hoboken and NYC folks.

Hoboken used to have that gay bar up until a few years ago right outside the PATH. There are definitely plenty of gay people there.
The main candidate outside of Hudson County would be Asbury Park...

I guess Maplewood is the gay bashing portion Brooklyn...

While Maplewood prides itself on being gay friendly, a transvestite was murdered a couple years ago, a bartender (and son of the owner) of a popular Irish bar stomped a gay patron outside last year, and they just elected a town councilperson who opposes gay marriage last week.

I always thought that Montclair, Morristown or Maplewood be the most friendly.

OK, you got me scratching my head. Is this some kind of inside joke this het doesn't get? I always thought transsexuals were motivated to be inconspicuous and natural in their chosen gender, not to be spotted as such on the street. Or do you actually mean drag queens, where standing out IS the point?

That's not entirely correct. When I was a college senior in 1986, Hoboken was in fact a Manhattan alternative for many gays and remained so for some time. There remains a gay presence in Hoboken. But the hets swooped in with their progeny and strollers right away. Quote:

Maybe Edgewater and West New York but not really. Gays are not and never have been attracted to frat infested Hoboken.

Would anything else on this side of the Hudson even come close?
