you can buy a mansion in gv and bl for 400k If stupidity was music... this would be the band ladies and gents. Try 980k for that so called crack house. Small two families are about 380k, but mansions are not and we have quite a few of them up here.

If you believe that crime (and drug dealing) occurs equally across the city, then I suspect you're on drugs. Of course there is crime everywhere. But if you're looking to get shot, or score heroin, you'll find more gang bangers and drugs in B-L n GV than in downtown. End of story.

That's right. We have equal opportunity drug dealing and related crimes throughout the City, not just in Yvonne's neighborhood of choice.

And the beat goes on - or more accurately the gunfire, at least along Jersey City's Martin Luther King Drive and its environs, where shootings have become a weekly occurrence and that doesn't include bullets fired that fortunately fail to find a target but leaves residents on constant edge.
Interestingly, The Jersey Journal reported the latest victim; a young man in his 20s reportedly was discovered by the police when they arrived at Martin Luther King Jr. Drive between Woodlawn and Armstrong avenues. Actually, the victim discovered the cops when he literally collapsed on the hood of a police cruiser. He is hospitalized and in critical condition. An accompanying photo, taken at the scene of the shooting, shows at least seven or eight officers standing around in the aftermath of yet another victim in the free fire zone some Jersey City neighborhoods have devolved into. The picture, as they say, is worth a thousand words, serving to drive home the community demand for neighborhood policing -- to put walking cops on the beat in hopes of quelling the violence instead of only reacting to its aftermath, Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop promised the walking patrols during his election campaign, more than a year ago, He's yet to deliver. With all due respect to Fulop, like all urban mayors, he has a lot on his plate and there could be logistical difficulties or other problems inherent in the city Police Department preventing neighborhood policing. We have several houses associated with the Crypts and Bloods in the Heights and marijuana is the drug of choice. The police have been very pro-active and it is showing.

But the Heights doesn't feel like the ' OK Corral' that Greenville is. Yes, the drugs may be here but the inner-city gang banger culture doesn't poison everything.

You've seen dealers use children on bikes in the drug trade? How do you know these children on bikes were running drugs, were you undercover for the police? Only a couple of blocks of Ocean are technically in Bergen Lafayette and it's an affluent part. The rest of Ocean Ave is in Greeneville. Drugs are no good but you act like there's no one dealing or using any place in the City except in the majority black neighborhoods. You can't make blanket statements like that and not sound racist. The Heights has drugs, Downtown has drugs, even the Brunswick Towers has drugs. They're not predominately black areas. Drugs are everywhere.

Downtown really hasn't had much of that visible at all, unless of course your part of the group that calls that small area of Ward E that's West of the overpass, "Downtown". In that case we have a few shootings in the past couple years. Been pretty clean otherwise.

Ocean Avenue, near Salem-Lafayette to Bayonne border, has a serious problem. Sadly, What's sad is the residents of these areas keep voting for nitwits who can't or wont do a damn thing about it. I lived in JC under four mayors and none of them are even close to a Giuliani, this place is not that big for all these shenanigans to be going on for so long.... it is sad.

Ocean Avenue, near Salem-Lafayette to Bayonne border, has a serious problem. Sadly, I have seen dealers use children on bikes in the drug trade. But it is not only related to that area, there has always been a drug trafficking problem on Wayne St. Years ago, I video a meeting at a church near the Hub with concern citizens, Comey and Councilwoman Richardson. The meeting was about the serious trouble with dugs that have made life unbearable for the citizens.

Excuse me? Bergen Lafayette has been taken over by drug dealers? Where've you been the last twenty years? Bergen Lafayette is no different from other Wards in the City: no worse than any other Ward and it's no where near as bad as it used to be. The Heights has had A LOT of drug dealing and shootings and killings to boot. Journal Square, Greeneville, Downtown all have had drug dealings and shootings. Welcome to life in the United States. You come across as a racist when you single out Bergen Lafayette. When was the last time you were even in Bergen Lafayette?

Ward F has been taken over by drug dealers for quite a long time. Let's not muddy the waters by talking about race riots. The people in that community has been asking for police presence since the beginning of the Healy Administration. Apparently, the late Glenn Cunningham had the police in that area but when he died, Comey decided to change the routine. The problem went from bad to worse.

The incident occurred around 1 a.m. on Martin Luther King Drive between Woodlawn and Armstrong avenues. After officers heard shots ring out, they drove to the location and saw a crowd huddled outside a local bar. (click link)

(Is it just me, or is this an awfully interesting way to announce 3 shootings in one night in our lovely city?)
-------------------------------------------- Trauma team at Jersey City hospital had busy night, spokesman says By The Jersey Journal on September 02, 2014 at 10:47 AM, updated September 02, 2014 at 10:49 AM The trauma team at Jersey City Medical Center-Barnabas Health stayed busy last night removing bullets from several bodies, according to the hospital spokesman. Thankfully, there were no deaths, according to hospital spokesman Mark Rabson. "Both trauma rooms were in use several times and the back-up trauma team had to be called in several times," Rabson said this morning. At least three shootings occurred in Jersey City last night, according to witnesses and police transmissions, including a man who was shot near Martin Luther King Drive and Union Street (pictured above). The shooting victims all remain hospitalized and are in stable condition, said Rabson, who credited EMS with stabilizing the patients before they arrived to the Downtown Jersey City hospital. A man who was shot early Sunday and collapsed onto the hood of a police cruiser is also in stable condition at the hospital, Rabson said. Link - JJ
