Yep, I'm on Wayne St. between Barrow and Grove, and heard from my landlord that power was back up today (evacuated to suburbs before storm myself). Seems like it is back all around VVP.

Got this from a JCPD car making announcements in the Heights:

Curfew is at 7:00 P.M.

Power will be out for the next 2 to 3 days

Gas stations are now closed. Too many fights and traffic issues.

Cars are still banned, but the JCPD seems to only be enforcing it on people causing trouble.

Does anyone know what the deal is with the Pathmark near Society Hill?

The generators were on since Tuesday you could see the low level lighting is on. (soda/water refrigerators by cashiers are even on) The sign on the door says closed but there is a cop inside and it looks like a only few people on line buying stuff. Are they employees, cops, EMS, firemen? Getting food for seniors? I heard the people in SH are going to riot!

Where as the Twin City Supermarket and the Bayonne Stop & Shop are wide open.

Everything is back online on 8th across from Hamilton Park. If you are in need of power to charge your mobile device/laptop/pad, hot shower, Internet access, use of phone or other emergency help, please PM me and I'll try my best to assist.

Also, if you have a flooded basement/apartment and need assistance with pumping out water, I have a portable generator that I can bring in the HP area. This would only work if power cord to your pump is accessible.

Just got this email from Steve Fulop (who has been very helpful during the storm posting updates on Facebook, etc.):

"I know the last few days have been challenging for everyone, and I hope this email finds you well under the circumstances. The concerns and issues of power, heat, and communication of information to residents obviously still exists throughout most of the city, and similar to you I am only able to pass along what information we are told by the mayor?s office or OEM. That said, I am happy to pass along your feedback, specific requests for dumpsters locations/help, or information if you reply to this email.

Importantly though and the purpose of this email is that included below is the link for those that have
access to the internet on a desktop as well as the phone number for those that can start the process for FEMA relief if your home has sustained damage.

The Federal Government has a website that allows people to apply for assistance online: http://www.disasterassistance.gov .This website consolidates the application process across several Federal agencies, including FEMA and the Small Business Administration. The website also reduces the number of forms you will ultimately have to fill out, shortens the time it takes to apply, and allows you to check the progress of your applications online.

If you want to apply by phone rather than the Internet, you can call 1-800-621-FEMA (1-800-621-3362).
Please let me know any questions

Steve"

Power is back on 7th and Brunswick! I think different arras have different substations and apparently ours were hard hit.

Huh?

They will not restore power to buildings that were flooded, without inspection.

So my guess is that power gets restored first to buildings that were (and are) dry.

But it is only a guess...

Yes, 7th and Coles Laundry is open.

Also:

Attention Jersey City Friends: a friend told me that his house and most of Paulus Hook was under water during the storm, people down there need help. He is asking people to meet tomorrow Friday on the steps of City Hall at noon if you NEED help or you CAN help. Please pass this message along. Please share this and post signs around your neighborhoods!

If you know how to post this as a new thread, please do!

Part of the issue with PSE&G is that they may not be able to turn the whole city back on. Their substations got flooded and fried. They don't have the capacity yet to re-energize the entire grid.

This is frustrating. Walking around downtown
seeing a lot of lights on in businesses and homes
and then waking up in a cold dark apt. again
with no hot water.
This lack of information is pathetic.
What the hell kind of grid is this? The city should
have people at Grove Street plaza for example
to let people know what's going on.
Where's Steve Fulop? He'll be asking for our time, vote and money, but nowhere to be found? Come on Steve,
You want my time, vote and money, make yourself
visible and instead of sending me email looking for money,
as a current Councilman, get your District some info!
You know, be a politician, get out and about.
I mean power on 7th and Coles but not 7th and Brunswick?!?
No shelters downtown open... none?
Damn.

Anyone know if any gas stations near J.C. opened back up? I am running low on gas for the generator. The two stations I relied before are now out of fuel.

I'd assume all the stations have some flooding. Reports are that the PATH tunnels are completely flooded.

Thanks for the update. I keep hearing anywhere from Monday to 3-10 days. Hopefully they're just saying that to set expectations...

Anyone know if Liberty Self Storage on Morris Pesin Dr. took in water? I have all my stuff there and haven't been able to get through to them on the phone.

Fortunately my stuff is on the 2nd floor, but still, LSP is awfully low lying.

For anyone who evacuated to the burbs, we were able to get back to JC via 78 and the Turnpike extension with no issues. Power is on at 3rd and Jersey.
