I walked around Paulus Hook, no street flooding and the water isn't spilling over the walkways. But Morris Canal Park is pretty flooded, here is some shaky cam footage I made. Also I saw some pretty big downed trees on the walk there from downtown.

We haven't had any flooding on this block - I'm basically right across the street from the school on Bright Street. Not sure how different it might be over at Fourth and Newark. During Irene it was all clear as far as flooding in the streets, except for the basement.

Listening to police scanner apparently there is a good deal of water at Marin and the light rail that the FD can't pass.

The storm surge during Irene was pretty much a non factor. Flooding was due to rain and a super saturated ground. We have had so little rain with this storm that if you are out of the surge path, you will be nice and dry.

However, this storm is producing such a low pressure that it looks like NOAA is raising the surge levels. Plus we have a full moon high tide around 8:30.

I would like it if anyone still in Newport, Port Libertre, or other waterfront area could provide some updates as to what is happening.

So in laymen's terms -- any sense on how much higher this will be from what happened with Irene? Also I am really interested in any news from the Village Area Downtown -- is Madame Claude's still dry? It made it through Irene just barely!

Probability of storm surge > 8 feet just jumped from 50% to 90+% along the waterfront. NOAA reporting probability of surge > 10 feet at 40-50%.

water spilling over onto boardwalk at liberty marina. docks almost above the walkway from raised water level and wind whipping.

flooding in the western pest parking lot, but not up to lightrail tracks yet. lots of trees down all over.

still plenty of people walking around

File under freaky. I have a water spray bottle on my table from when I was cementing cracks, it's got a continual drip from it's nozzle due to the falling pressure siphoning it up.

There is an 80% chance that the storm surge ON TOP of the high tide will be 5-7 feet on the JC waterfront, according to NHC data.

Money, obviously. Not that we have cheaper power. I would guess the money saved ends up in the pockets of "the right people".

I know right? I still see people walking about and the wind has picked up 5x stronger than before. And to hear the wind gust from inside my apt and windows shut you know it's gusting around 50 65 mph

I don't know where these guys are getting their data, both plots are showing 6.5 surge over high, for an 8.5 tide. and Irene was 4' at the Battery here's the record http://tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov/data ... ide+Data&format=View+Plot
