Raj
come on to JC list as let us know what is up. You seem to have a crazy good resume for someone so young. I will forgive some youthful indiscretions if it means someone with some drive to make JC a better place to live is part of the city government. Let me start with this question. What are three things you can do from a government point-of-view that would make life easier for small business owners in Jersey City. I hope you respond.

(And this was from the star ledger ww.nj.com/starledger )
Lobbyist accused of stalking pleads guilty to trespassing Additional charges dropped as part of deal JIM O'NEILL STAR-LEDGER STAFF Published: January 9, 2007 A 22-year-old business whiz and lobbyist from Fanwood faces a probationary term after pleading guilty yesterday to a count of trespassing, admitting he was intoxicated when he entered a home where, police say, a young woman and her boyfriend were sleeping. Raj Mukherji avoided a trial on charges of stalking two women under a plea agreement reached as jury selection was about to begin in Middlesex County. The defendant, who was a business partner of former Morris County prosecutor and one-time gubernatorial candidate Michael Murphy, will be allowed to enter a pretrial probationary program known as "PTI," and could be released upon successful completion in six to 12 months. In exchange for the guilty plea to the non-criminal disorderly persons charge, prosecutors agreed to drop two counts of stalking, as well as charges of breaking into the home where one woman was sleeping with her boyfriend, and trying to convince the other woman not to testify against him at trial. A Middlesex County grand jury charged that he pursued the women, kept calling them, even after they changed their phone numbers and continued stalking one of the women after she obtained a court order to leave her alone. Mukherji said he never pursued the women, and was ready to prove in court in New Brunswick that one of them stalked him and filed the charges against him when a scheme to blackmail him failed. "I am frustrated that it took them a year to figure it out, but I commend the (Middlesex County) Prosecutor's Office for dismissing the (five-count) indictment," Mukherji said in a written statement. "The stalking and related charges were baseless and could not have been successfully prosecuted." Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce Kaplan said the plea agreement was a reasonable way to resolve the case. "The objective of the prosecution was the protection of the victims and we satisfied that objective with the (guilty) plea," he said. The plea agreement, reached between Assistant Prosecutor Manuel Sameiro and Mukherji's attorneys, Robert Gluck and his associate, Amy Criscuolo, permits the defendant to avoid the criminal charges, but warns that if he fails to complete the probationary term, he could be jailed for up to six months. The agreement also includes a civil order banning him from having any contact with the two women. Sameiro said the women were notified of the plea agreement and approved it. If convicted of the criminal charges at trial, Mukherji could have been imprisoned for several years, but, in all likelihood, as a first-time offender, he would have been sentenced to probation, Sameiro said. Mukherji still faces federal charges of impersonating an agent of the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency and lying about it to an FBI agent. The case was forwarded to federal prosecutors by investigators from the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office during the stalking investigation, according to a federal indictment. Mukherji denies wrongdoing, and said he expects to be cleared, contending he is a defense intelligence specialist and linguist for the U.S. Marine Reserve. No trial date has been set. His former lobbying partner, Murphy, said he was pleased the stalking case was dropped. "I've been in his corner all along," Murphy said. "It took a lot of courage and heartache from him to get through the last year." Murphy said he would welcome Mukherji back into his Trenton-based lobbying firm, ImpactNJ, once Mukherji has fulfilled his commitment to the Marines and the federal charges are resolved. "Whatever Raj decides to do, he is going to excel at," Murphy said. Mukherji has run his own Internet marketing firm and has been involved in several multimillion-dollar marketing ventures, according to his Web site.

nationmaster.com: Raj Mukherji is a New Jersey lobbyist and political consultant who is under investigation by the FBI which follows a Middlesex County indictment for stalking. Mukherji?s lawyers, including the high-profile Lawrence Lustberg of Gibbons, Del Deo, Dolan, Griffinger & Vecchione and former Middlesex County Prosecutor Bob Gluck, have insisted the charges are false and will be dismissed.[1] Mukherji was also charged in a federal indictment, currently pending, with impersonating a defense intelligence official, misdemeanor possession of false or fraudulent identification, and providing false information. But after the indictment, the U.S. Department of Defense, at the behest of Mukherji's lawyers, verified his commendable service in defense intelligence for the Marine Corps. Two military lawyers confirmed that the seized credentials actually accurately matched his military data, with the exception of his age. Mukherji apparently had used the data on a privately manufactured credential to be admitted to liquor-serving establishments before he turned 21 years old. http://www.nationmaster.com/encyclopedia/Raj-Mukherji In one instance, the grand jury charged, he continued to stalk one of the women, identified as D.B., even after a judge in New Brunswick ordered him last June 1 to stay away from her and leave her alone. Sameiro told the court the woman was asleep at her boyfriend's home last Oct. 22 when the defendant broke in, apparently startling the couple. The prosecuting attorney declined outside of court to provide further details on the alleged break-in. In another incident, the grand jury charged, Mukherji learned he was being investigated for allegedly stalking the women and asked one of them, identified as K.S., not to testify against him, either by withholding critical information or by failing to appear. http://www.nlsociety.com/forum/index. ... pic/74354-caughtyalookin/

A five-count indictment by a Middlesex County grand jury against a Fanwood lobbyist, developer, businessman and Marine Corps intelligence specialist was dismissed Monday after the 22-year-old pleaded guilty to a trespassing charge following a plea agreement reached with the Middlesex County Prosecutor?s Office. Assistant Prosecutor Manuel Sameiro told The Scotch Plains-Fanwood Times that the burglary charge was reduced to trespassing and ?all the other charges were dismissed.? *** ***** Mr. Mukherji still faces a twocount federal indictment for impersonating an agent of the United States Defense Intelligence Agency and for lying about it to an FBI agent. The Times was unable reach the U.S. Attorney?s Office for comment at press deadline. Mr. Mukherji said his lawyers expect the federal indictment to be dropped. ?The indictment was in error, plain and simple. Raj could not have impersonated himself. Interesting individual until I read, "Mukherji has contributed in recent years to the campaigns of some Hudson County politicos, like state Sen. Sandra B. Cunningham and Assemblyman Ruben Ramos. He contributed $2,500 to Healy?s 2009 mayoral campaign, $100 below the legal limit."

Jersey City swears in 27-year-old lobbyist as new deputy mayor
March 02, 2012, 5:31 PM By Terrence T. McDonald - The Jersey Journal Jersey City lobbyist Raj Mukherji, chair of the Jersey City Housing Authority, was sworn-in as the city?s newest deputy mayor in a ceremony at City Hall today. Mukherji, 27, of Ogden Avenue, said he hopes he can help the city attract capital investments and jobs, in addition to funds from Trenton and Washington D.C. ?Everyone's suffering right now: businesses, unions, the taxpayers,? he said. ?But I think there are creative ways that we think outside the box that we can find solutions.? Mukherji, a managing partner of lobbying firm Impact NJ and a U.S. Marine, officially replaces Leona Beldini, who was arrested in the massive 2009 corruption sweep and sentenced to three years in prison after she was found guilty of accepting $20,000 in illegal campaign contributions. When he was appointed to the JCHA, he replaced Lori Serrano, who was later arrested in the same sweep that ensnared Beldini. Serrano, awaiting trial on one count of mail fraud, has pleaded not guilty. Asked how he feels following in the footsteps of two Operation Bid Rig III defendants, Mukherji said, ?Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift.? Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah Healy noted that the appointment of Mukherji, who is of South Asian descent, is a nod to Jersey City?s burgeoning Asian population, which represents about 24 percent of the city, up from 16 percent a decade ago, according to Census figures. ?Raj?s extensive public-affairs experience will enable him to effectively advocate for our city in Trenton and Washington,? Healy said. "His service at the Jersey City Housing Authority has shown him to be a tireless public servant and consensus builder." Jersey City?s other deputy mayor, Kabili Tayari, earns a $110,056 salary, but Mukherji said he will only take $1 annually for his new role, citing ?the austere economic climate.? He also said he will decline the city car he is eligible to receive. ?Fortunately, I?ve been blessed in my young adult private-sector career to be in a position where I?m able to do that,? Mukherji said. Mukherji has contributed in recent years to the campaigns of some Hudson County politicos, like state Sen. Sandra B. Cunningham and Assemblyman Ruben Ramos. He contributed $2,500 to Healy?s 2009 mayoral campaign, $100 below the legal limit. http://www.nj.com/hudson/index.ssf/20 ... y_swears_in_27-year-.html
