Is Jersey City rapper Joe Budden tweeting from jail?
Update: Rapper charged with robbery, grand larceny, cops say Is Jersey City rapper Joe Budden really tweeting from a jail cell? By Patrick Villanova | The Jersey Journal on August 27, 2014 That appears to be the case, as the hip-hop star behind the hit single "Pump It Up" claimed on Twitter that he would turn himself into authorities today after being accused of assaulting and robbing his ex-girlfriend in Manhattan last week, according to the Daily News. Yesterday, Budden tweeted "I'ma have a blast tonight before I sit in jail tomorrow," and then added in another tweet to his 875,000 followers last night: "#FreeBudd .... Oh wait....Too early, my bad" About two hours ago, the Jersey City-raised rapper once again took to social media, tweeting "So.... There is wifi here by the way," and later complained about the hard bench he's presumably tweeting from. The New York Police Department said Budden was supposed to surrender today, but could not confirm if he had turned himself in yet. "My phone is on 25%, so I'll refrain," he added in his most recent tweet at around 11 a.m. The Daily News reported that Budden allegedly stole his ex-girlfriend's cell phone and twisted her arm after picking her up outside a Washington Heights restaurant. Meanwhile, a friend of the woman told mediatakeout.com that the rapper also bashed her head into the dashboard of his car and later choked her inside his New Jersey home. "Let this be a lesson to all... never steal a cell phone that's in your name. Smh... Justice will be served," Budden wrote on Twitter. On Saturday, Budden stirred things up when he tweeted that cops could find him at a strip club in Astoria. "Let the Man hunt know," he taunted. That bravado continued this morning when he reassured his followers that he'd soon be out of custody: http://www.nj.com/hudson/index.ssf/20 ... n_tweeting_from_jail.html

WTF are you talking about?? When it comes to legal matters, only one type of capital matters: money. If you have personal property, it gets impounded/repossessed and turned into money (via auctions, reselling, etc.). If you have real property, the same goes. What are the courts to do with social capital??? Sometimes people confuse themselves. SMH. Get your head out of the clouds and face the real world.

He has "social capital" at the very least. This type of capital is often more valuable then personal property, such as real estate, art, jewels or stock portfolios. The biggest beneficiaries of social capital are the people who make a living in the entertainment industry and, the arts.

What street in Jersey City does this guy live on (if he lives in Jersey City) ? He's been tweeting again and says the news is at his home. Is there a whole pack of news trucks and reporters assembled on some street in the city?
Also, with all the tweeting he's doing, he's giving enough rope to hang himself. His attorney should tell him to cut it out.

http://gothamist.com/2014/08/24/rappe ... en_takes_shelter_in_s.php Rapper Joe Budden Takes Shelter In Strip Club As NYPD Pursue Him Rapper Joe Budden, who is wanted by the NYPD for an August 18th assault on a former girlfriend, taunted the NYPD on Twitter over the weekend, claiming he would sue the department over the allegations. He also told the NYPD that he would be in a strip club in Astoria if they would like to find him. It all started on Friday evening when the NYPD sent out a call for public assistance in finding Budden, a rapper and reality TV star, after he was allegedly involved in an August 18th robbery. Budden's former girlfriend claims Budden stole her phone and twisted her arm in the process. The NYPD distributed a photo of Budden, and told citizens to be on the lookout. Budden was not pleased by this turn of events, and quickly threatened legal action.

Wow, just read his last few Twitter postings and this guy really has no shame at all. He is taunting law enforcement via Twitter. He'll eventually get caught and be arrested. Even the most seasoned law enforcement will say, when it comes to catching a crook, it's not how smart the police detective is, it's how dumb the criminal was. Here's the Twitter handle again for your enjoyment:

Rap show at Highline Ballroom features two Jersey City rappers
Published: Wednesday, October 26, 2011, 3:00 AM By Toni-Ann Cerbo/The Jersey Journal Rapper Drew Hudson, left, and his producer, Dub-B, at their Jersey City recording studio. Two Jersey City rappers have a show in New York City tomorrow. Andrew Defilippo, 26, aka ?Drew Hudson,? a former Bayonne resident, will be opening for well-known Jersey City rapper Joe Budden at the Highline Ballroom in New York City at 9 p.m. Defilippo performed his first rap verse when he was 13-years-old. Since then he has devoted himself to his music. ?Songwriting and hip-hop was something that just happened unconsciously,? Defilippo said in an interview. ?My friends and I were just messing around with lyrics and rhymes, and after I spit the words, I just knew I had a knack for it.? Defilippo said he was influenced by all genres of music and that many of his influences have come from what he considers to be ?the lyrical golden age of hip hop.? He, along with his rock/hip-hop band, Junkyard Gang, were featured on the ?Def Jam: Fight for NY? soundtrack, the sequel to ?Def Jam Vendetta,? a hip hop-influenced 3-D fighting game released for GameCube in 2006, and on Budden?s 2009 second album ?Padded Room?. Budden has done several recordings and was nominated for a Grammy in 2004 for Best Male Rap solo performance. Defilippo opened for Budden this past summer at Irving Plaza in New York City and got a good response from the crowd, said producer Joe Kuleszynski aka Dub-B. ?Drew got a lot of recognition during that June performance and has a lot of following in Bayonne and Jersey City,? Dub-B said. So why the stage name ?Drew Hudson?? ?Hudson County is full of diversity and I think my music personifies the county?s spirit,? Defilippo said. ?It?s realistic, relatable and fun.? Jersey City's Joe Budden steals the show at BET Hip Hop Awards 2011
Wednesday, October 12, 2011, 1:22 PM
By Adam Robb/For The Jersey Journal
Joe Budden is identified as being from Jersey City in the BET Hip Hop Awards 2011 cypher.
Two of the top terms trending nationwide on Twitter today reference not just last night's BET Hip Hop Awards, but the performance of rap super-group Slaughterhouse, formed by former Jersey City resident Joe Budden.
The most popular moments from last night's show focused on cyphers, or freestyle rapping, by a chain of artists signed to various record labels. While Slaughterhouse formed two years ago, it was just this January the group was signed to Eminem's Shady Records.
Eminem, Slaughterhouse and Shady Records labelmate Yelawolf performed "Shady 2.0 BET Cypher,'' which caused both "Shady 2.0" and "Hi Rihanna," a refrain from the performance, to trend on Twitter.
The hashtag #twittercypher is also trending today, as thousands of Twitter users tweet their own freestyle lyrics in 140 characters or less.
Budden, who was born in Spanish Harlem but raised in Jersey City, rose up the local hip-hop scene in 2003 when his breakout single "Pump It Up" was nominated for a Grammy Award. His popularity, though, had waned and Budden had changed record labels multiple times before forming Slaughterhouse in 2009 after recording a song of the same name with rappers Crooked I, Royce da 5'9", and Joell Ortiz, who now comprise the group.
The BET Hip Hop Awards will replay this Friday at 9 p.m. on BET.
Budden will perform next at Highline Ballroom in NYC on Oct. 27.

Jersey City rap star Joe Budden is on the Hudson County sheriff's chart as a deadbeat dad owing nearly $13,000 in child support Tuesday, October 19, 2010 By MICHAELANGELO CONTE JOURNAL STAFF WRITER Jersey City rapper Joe Budden is a deadbeat dad who owes nearly $13,000 in child support payments, according to the Hudson County Sheriff's Office, which has issued an arrest warrant for the "Pump It Up" performer. The warrant for failure to pay the $12,983 in child support and failure to appear at a hearing was issued in May, Sheriff's Department Chief John Bartucci said yesterday. And it's not the first time Budden, 30, has been in trouble for failure to pay child support. He was arrested on the charge on Aug. 5, 2009, Bartucci noted. Born in Spanish Harlem, Budden moved to Jersey City with his family when he was 11 and grew up on the West Side. He now has addresses on Bentley Avenue in Jersey City and River Road in North Bergen. Budden's success in the underground world of mix tapes, where he went by the name "Regular Joe," attracted the attention of record executives at Def Jam Records. His first big hit was "Focus," a club hit in 2002. His most recent releases include "Halfway House" in 2008 and "Padded Room" in 2009, according to his website, www.joebuddentv.com. In 2004, while giving away turkeys at a Jersey City housing complex, Budden told The Jersey Journal: "There are people who on many days don't know what they're going to eat or where their next meal is going to come from. It's important for me to give back." Budden could not be reached for comment yesterday. He is one of a number of "deadbeat dads" being sought by the Hudson County Sheriff's Office. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Budden
