If you want to get some local salt air get a <$1000 kayak and both our rivers are yours for the taking with no recurring costs assuming you got somewhere to stash it.

So who pays when it needs new bottom paint? A partial engine rebuild? What color upholstery to install? It will lead to endless arguments. Don't even consider a three-way share with strangers. Everyone will get pissed off when "their" boat is left with unfamiliar smells, unexplained dents, stains, missing silverware, etc.
I split a yacht with one person 50-50, an old and dear friend with complete trust, and we still bicker about things. I would advise you to only own a boat you can afford. Sell it when you can no longer afford it. Any scheme you cook up to mitigate costs and preserve ownership will probably cost you a lot more in the long run. We do all our own maintenance and repairs on our boat and it is still my largest annual expense by far. If you don't care about strangers using and abusing your boat, you can see if it is chartable - call NYC brokers and see if there is any demand. MZ

You might also want to look into Liberty Yacht Management (www.libertyyacht.com). They may be willing to purchase the boat and add it to their fleet of timeshare and fractional ownership vessel. I am a satisfied sailboat timeshare customer of theirs. Liberty Yacht Management

I'm looking for partners to share ownership of a power boat.

Each partner would pay $9,916,67 towards the purchase of a one-third interest in the boat, and also one-third of the annual operating costs (which would equal about $5,000 for each owner) to cover dockage and winter dry dockage at Liberty Landing Marina, winterization and spring launch costs, insurance, and general maintenance. I think this is the best and most affordable way to enjoy a boat in this area. Email me at bds@schundler.org if you are interested in this.
