Hamilton Park would be an ideal place for a few bocce courts. It would be a total community builder.

I've walked my dog along Jersey Ave and see some guys playing bocce in their back alley sometimes. Urban bocce!

Not really local, but I recently went to a NY restaurant that had bocce you can play while you wait for your table or food.

You dont have to travel to bayonne, Pershing field definatley has the Bocce court on the side of Manhattan ave between summit and central, been there for decades and with a good clay base.
You can catch some of the old timers play if yr lucky.

In Boca lupo

This list says that Pershing Field has it still: http://www.jcnj.com/parks.shtml

I know they had an area in Riverview-Fisk Park too but it was always locked and they've probably gotten rid of it by now.

It's unfortunate, because when I was in college I was actually a regular and quite successful bocce player.

Sorry to say, but the only bocce courts in the area are in Bayonne. I have no idea if they allow non-residents to use the facilities. I have only been there as a spectator.
Here is a contact number: 201-437-1184
"The City of Bayonne has a spectacular Bocce Pavilion situated on the banks of the Kill Van Kull in Mayor Dennis P. Collins Park."

there was one in this park...
View Larger Map but the park was closed down 30 years ago... destroyed two years ago... nobody thought to just leave the trees alone.
