Not sure if you are joking . The last line says:

"The club is closed right now and opens Memorial Day weekend."

Fire spreads quickly, moderate to heavy damage at Sand Bar restaurant and club in Jersey City

Tuesday, March 09, 2010

Workers using torches on an outside wall caused a one-alarm fire at the Sand Bar restaurant and club in Jersey City yesterday, fire officials said.

The fire, which was reported at 5:27 p.m., started outside, but rose inside the wall to the second floor and eventually climbed to the roof, said Fire Director Armando Roman.

There were no injuries, Roman said. He did not know last night what kind of work the construction workers were doing.

He described damage to the building, at 41 Marin Blvd., as moderate to heavy.

The fire, which was brought under control at 5:41, was classified as accidental.

Hudson-Bergen Light Rail trains that pass the location were temporarily halted.

Wasn't there a thread recently about sandbar closing and a BBQ place opening instead? Based on this article, so much for that :)

It's the group of mismatched buildings just to the left (east) of the NY Waterways ferry terminal. One of the buildings looks like a large white rectangular tent.

A newbie question....where exactly is/was Sandbar? I have driven down to the end of Marin Blvd but don't see a Sandbar, just a parking lot for cars and RVs and a fuel depot for boats.

Fire at Sand Bar club in Jersey City caused by careless use of torches, officials say

By Ken Thorbourne/The Jersey Journal

Workers using torches on an outside wall caused tonight's one-alarm fire at the Sand Bar restaurant and club in Jersey City, fire officials said.

The fire, which was reported at 5:27 p.m., started outside, but rose inside the wall to the second floor and eventually climbed to the roof, Fire Director Armando Roman said.

There were no injuries. Roman did not know what kind of work the construction workers were doing.

He described damage to the building at 41 Marin Blvd. as moderate to heavy.

The fire, which was brought under control at 5:41, was classified as accidental.

Service on Hudson-Bergen Light Rail trains that pass the location was temporarily halted.

The club is closed right now and opens Memorial Day weekend.

I heard numerous fire department units responding past my building and i went outside to my balcony and noticed a moderate smoke condition coming from the Sand Bar. The fire was put out quickly.

Went outside to take a look. Couple of trucks but no smoke. Looks like the plastic high heels will be back. Sadly.
