You people crack me up. You have nothing else better to do but worry about a car parked on the street. I wouldn't be so proud saying you got hit twice by a car. Didn't mommy teach you to look both ways before crossing. Grow up and stop complaining. You complain about the cops but you probably call them for every stupid little thing that goes on.

I'd just change the ticket number so the powers that be don't track you down that way and don't fear some finger print crap, it would stretch JCPD's budget.

Here you go. Change a few things with paint.net and slap one on his car every morning. If nothing else, you'll really piss him off.

Why don't you just stake out the car and make a citizen's arrest when the driver shows up?

Or, better yet, don't waste time writing your own notes (on which you will undoubtedly leave behind some fingerprints and/or other self-incriminating evidence) and try this. In fact, seeing how drivers around here are such a menace to society, you would be well-advised to print a short stack of the notices in that site and keep them handy for all the idiots parking their cars without regard for the rest of us.

Has anyone tried to leave a note on his/her windscreen that resembles a parking ticket with the message;
Your inconsiderate, illegal and constaint self-righteous behavior of parking your on the cross-walk, creates a dangerous safety hazard and obstacle for motorists and pedestrians, especially those with strollers and wheel chairs. Please move, as you give a number of JC citizens no alternative but to contact City Hall, the Police, JCPA and our elected Councilor for East District.

ianmac47,
The car belongs to a police officer. How is throwing a rock through his windshield going to help me?

This is our rep in the ward. I recently wrote him about the Grove Street Plaza issue ( making in front of Duane Reade open to vehicles) and he got back to me in less than 48 hours. Give him a shout

You know, a heavy rock probably will do more than a photograph. Not that I am advocating throwing a heavy rock through the windshield of an illegally parked car, but I am saying that costing the car's owner several hundred dollars in damage is probably more effective then taking his picture.

Thanks for reporting it.
I've had a couple of close calls there myself. It's bad enough some people don't yield to pedestrians (it's the law folks) but I've been given the evil eye because some tool wanted to park there while I was trying to cross. Evil eye right back atcha!

Unbelievable!! 18 hours later and still parked illegelly in the crosswalk...shameful. I have written to the East District Police, The JC Parking Authority and cc'ed Fulop about this matter, even sent them the photos. This is a serious safety issue, can you imagine the danger a woman (or a man for that matter) crossing that intersection with a baby carriage would be in! The police should LEAD BY EXAMPLE.

Just went by this morning, he is still there (7:10 am), no tickets and no cars parked in front of or behind him. The street cleaner even went by and there was no action. Amazing!

They constantly break the laws on parking and driving so perhaps this will start a movement to embarass them more and more. Perhaps anyone with a camera can post their pics and keep the pressure on the JCPD. In NYC they cut back drastically on parking permits for city agencies. Maybe we can start something here? Officer Reilly is the point person in the East District on community relations so she would be the obvious choice for someone to contact.

I cross that intersection at least twice a day and I've actually been hit by cars twice there in the last year... once right where that car is parked and once in front of Groomingdale's. People driving down 2nd are trying to get across Newark so quickly that they don't even think to look for pedestrians.

Its a chronic problem on the corner of First and Erie as well, and most of the cars have PBA plates or PD emblems in them. I walked by this car in particular and noticed that all the windows are heavily tinted, including the windshield and front windows. Illegal in NJ, if my car had this kind of tintining, I would get a ticket, and would certainly fail inspection. This guy is immune and even has an inspection sticker to prove it.

great idea, maybe have half a dozen of these sorts of things - fire hydrants blocked, cars on sidewalks etc so the cops don't get one issue at a time.
I'd start by walking around e-district police station to give the cops the opportunity to do the right thing and lead by example. your photos are an example of those 'quality of life' issues we have - imagine a blind guy trying to make it onto that crosswalk or a dude on crutches or in a wheel chair ?

The corner of Newark and Second St is a very dangerous intersection to cross, I was almost struck by a car trying to cross there today around 1pm! There is a white Acura DMX that is always parked in the crosswalk there that causes a blindspot for oncoming cars. The Acura must be owned by a police officer because the plates have FRATERNAL ORDER of POLICE on it. If that officer is reading this, with all due respect please stop parking in the crosswalk. You are creating a danger for crossing pedestrians, thank God I didn't have a baby carriage! As you can see from the pics, others also park on the corner illegally, PLEASE STOP PARKING on the CORNER OF NEWARK and SECOND!!! I am going to send these pics to the parking authority as well. Thanks[/img][/img][img][/img]
