Just moved to JC about a month ago. Looking for a good sports bar to watch NFL ticket, NBA games, etc.

Good food is a must (wings, burgers, you know the usual bar food).

Any recommendations ???

Up in the Heights at the corner of Liberty Ave. gets pretty packed during football season. Good grub too.

Went to Dorrian's in Newport yesterday to watch the games and all was good until the 1pm game ended and the Jets game started. They have the ticket, cool bartenders, and not bad food so thought it would be a good spot despite all the Redskins fans. :)

I am not a Jet fan but was with a friend who is; and as a football fan their game against the Patriots yesterday was pretty big.

Unfortunately the moment the game started so did the jukebox with country music at full blast where only two minutes ago we had the commentary. Now if the place advertised itself as affiliated with a certain team and they had already played that's one thing...but if you order the ticket and have all games then you are positioning yourself as a place to watch football all Sunday.

We asked for the sound to be turned back on but got nowhere so called it a day and watched the rest of the game at home. I like sitting outside there but would not recommend it as a "Sports Bar".

Random - does anyone know if any bars around here show the UConn football games? Or that have ESPN U? I know Comcast doesn't carry ESPN U, so I guess it would have to be a place with the dish?

Is ESPN-U different than the ESPN college Game Plan? Because the latter sports package can be had on Comcast.

Yeah, it's different. ESPN & Comcast still haven't reached an agreement, so games shown on ESPN U are not available on Comcast at all.

Bills Win - !!

Best sports bar is still York Street Tavern. The owner even asked us what TV we wanted next week when we come for next week's games. That's service.

$8 pitchers... (that's basically $2 per pint) $3 personal Pizzas... $0.40 wings (10wings for $4), $3 for 3 sliders, and a few other deals I can't remember.

Never been to HPAH - how many TVs (approximately) do they have? How is it on Sundays for NFL?

I believe they have 8 large flat panel TV's. I find this place to be really good for all-day NFL Sunday action. I didn't go there last Sunday. However I was talking to one of the bartenders two days ago and I was told that this past Sunday was off da hook in terms of people / atmosphere.

Thx for the info - already made plans to go to York Street this week, but maybe the following I'll give this place a try! GO BILLS!

York St Tavern is good, especially for NFL games. They have DirecTV and all the games are shown. I'm sure they have a decent amount of college games on as well.

PSU is looking good!!!

Second both the Hamilton Park Ale House and White Star.

Both have great TVs. HPAH is a bit bigger if you have a large group.

I usually catch the games at the WhiteStar. They also have the Big Ten Package. GO Penn State!

Hamilton Park Ale House, we went last week to watch Penn State slaughter and Notre Dame choke, they are the only ones I know of with the Big Ten package and ESPN Gameday, they get every game, sick TV's and had $2 bud bottles all day, food was great, I'm going back tomorrow

I am new to JC and I was wondering where the best place is to catch the college football games this Saturday night!

Thanks!
