Re: Is the rental market downtown crazy slow?

Usually it says something in the lease but I believe they need to give you a specified time of notice, like 48 hours. I think that owners have the right to show it if you still live there but I'm not 100% sure.

Usually they start showing 30 days before the lease is up, but if the market is really bad maybe your landlord is trying to push it.

When you get food from somewhere, they're supposed to provide you with what you need to eat it. Plastic forks/spoons/knives and napkins are standard. Very few places are that fraking cheap, and no place that serves something as inherently messy as ribs should fail to provide napkins.

I was just joking. But seriously, I have noticed that lately more and more places are skrimping on the extra stuff like plastic forks, napkins etc. Most people have that stuff at home and when they are delivering to a residence, prob they just assume you have it unless you ask for it.

Your right, if there were more serious charges towards animal bites then people would think twice about letting there dogs run free. It shouldn't be about the breed but the irresponsible people who own them. Unfortunately a lot of pit-bulls get into the wrong hands and are trained to fight and be guard dogs. Case in point: An idiot co-worker bred his pit-bull and ended up having 11 puppies.... He brought in a 4 week old puppy to show all the other co workers and was going to leave it in the warehouse all day, he specifically told everyone dont show it to me cause I will pick it up and he wants it to be a guard dog.... the dog was shaking freezing and only 4 weeks old but I wasn't supposed to show it any kind of love or affection because he was going to be his guard dog... I later learned that he sold almost half of the puppies at 4 weeks old. Just terrible evil people out there, and then there are the ones who truely care about their dogs and if their is an aggression issue they rehabiliate them, train them out of their bad habits... it is possible.

This story is very upsetting.

I want to start by saying I don't think pitt bulls in general are bad dogs but I think they have issues.

That being said, I have spent a lot of time with pit bulls. My best friend had one for years but the dog for some reason attacked her little brother breaking his hand (among other things) so they put him down. He had some behavioral issues and so did his father. The father dog was my roommates dog. He attacked my dog (1/2 chow 1/2 german) and my dog had to have have major surgery on his leg. He almost had to have it amputated. This same pit also killed at least 7 cats over time and tore himself free from a chain to attack a husky dog that was also chained up.

One question also. If there are a lot of other kinds of dogs that can do this type of damage, why does it seem like people are only useing pits for this? Just a question.

I agree with Brewster.

I am a HUGE animal lover and love big dogs but pitt bulls have so many problems. From the irresponsible owners, to their huge jaws to their brute strength and to some bad breeders.

It is just a simple fact that pitts are one of the dogs (there are quite a few) that are able to cause the most damage to another dog or a person. The strength they have in their jaws and necks makes it so they can really tear a person or another dog apart. Are their other dogs that can do this? Yes, but they aren't nearly as popular as pitts are.

Just take a look at the shelters. Why are so many people abandoning their dogs. I would say a great majority of shelters are full of pitts.

It is a very sad thing, but some breeds really shouldn't be legal in busy cities/areas where there are so many people.

Food was good and the service was great.

They screwed up my order but fixed it really quickly and comped one of my martini's.

Atmosphere was mellow and the place wan't very busy but it was early on a Sunday evening.

We will definately go back again.

If anyone finds it can you post it here?

Otherwise, I need a vet recommendation for my 2 cats. Anywhere in JC is fine.

Good luck finding this person. I really hope you do. This type of stuff infuriates me. My husband was a hit and run victim in Brooklyn last year. His car was totaled and he had to get stitches in his head. The guy didn't even slow down.

I don't know what is wrong with people these days. Zero accountability.

While I absolutely do not agree with beating an unarmed person with a tire iron, especially in the head, I tend to believe these kids were not exactly stellar citizens and more than likely did not accidentally scratch a car.

Yes, it could happen but come on...kids out late at night heading over to the housing projects are probably not your basic wide eyed types.

I certainly wasn't riding my bike around in a big city at midnight when I was 14.

My UPS guy comes around 7pm so it's great timing for us. So far if they leave a yellow slip they do attempt to redeliver the next day. I haven't had any problems yet. I do usually get stuff delivered to my office if it's small enough to lug home on the path.

When Greenville said the cops should have to live where they work. That's absurd, but I wasn't only referencing this thread nor was I quoting you on anything, it wasn't directed at you. However, in the other Greenville shooting thread there was a sense there that some people felt the cop was to blame.

This is BS there are plenty of communities in plenty of cities/states that have taken control of their neighborhoods and helped to clean them up.

What are you saying? Are the majority of people who live in Greenville thugs and drug dealers? If not, wouldn't the majority of citizens want these types of people out??? Get off your arse and organize comunity watch programs.

The people of Greenville shouldn't be relying on police to get it's population under control, they should be doing it themselves.

How could it be dangerous? A former tenant that didn't pay their rent on time wouldn't use that landlord as a reference for a new place they were trying to get into.

You don't give people you screwed over as references, so how could it be dangerous if you only give people you had good history with???

Re: Car Inspection

I know everything works fine on the truck, the only thing is that it has a bent axle that we just found out about. I guess it happened before we bought it. Anyway, we just had the breaks done and since the axle is broken the breaks are wearing uneavenly and it makes a squeek when we are driving, kind of like a rubbing sound. The mechanic said it is fine and we are going to replace the axle when we can get a used one, but I am wondering if that would cause it to fail?

My husband took it to Secaucus and since he only had his temporary insurance card they said he would fail just for that. Now we have the perm ones so I guess we will go back again and see what happens.

Thanks for everyone's quick responses!

Hi,

Does anyone have a good recommendation for a car inspection place? I live in the heights but any place that someone can recommend. I am being honest here. We have an old car, but everything works on it. I know it will pass emissions brakes, all the usual stuff, but we are originally from NYC so we aren't sure what kind of stuff they knit pick about in NJ. Thanks for any suggestions.

Do you take the NJ transit bus or the $2.50 van? I may try taking the van and see if it's better than the path. Just always wonder how the traffic is and how long it takes.
