As a real estate attorney, I love getting inspection reports from

Indago Inspections
www.indagoinspections.com |
24 Mountain Ave., Hawthorne, NJ 07506 |
973-885-6236 |
(F) 973-238-1170

Jim did my inspection when I bought, and I recommend him to my clients. Very thorough and the reports are very well composed (typed, with pictures of issues, etc.)

I recommended Sergio at Housemasters a couple years ago and I've used him a few more times since then. Excellent job every time.

I am in the process of closing on a condo in DTJC, and used Chris Burrows (C.M. Burrows) for the inspection. I was very pleased with his work, and would recommend him highly.

Their generic line is 1-866-BURROWS, and I'd be happy to provide his direct dial / email address if you're interested. Send me a private message.

Can anyone recommend a home inspector and/or structural engineer who is really good at looking at old houses. We are looking at a really old one and want to make sure that it's not in danger of collapsing. Price is not a concern. We'd rather pay for someone really thorough than have a problem later.

I'm currently in the process of buying a condo downtown as well. I found John Moss through jclist and gave him a call. Although he wasn't able to schedule an inspection with me last month due to medical reasons, he was extremely helpful on the phone and gave me some tips to look out for as a first time buyer. He also gave me a price range to expect.

I went with my realtor's suggestion of Chris Burrows. He was thorough, reasonably priced, and I received my inspection report the next business day.

Hi,

I'm in search of a good home inspection company for a condo that I'm in a process of buying (JC dotwntown). Would anyone recommend a couple of places, please?

Thanks in advance.

I used Joe Fleming from All In One Home Inspection when I bought my house last year. He was thorough, personable and punctual.

The John that I was referring to is John Moss from Inspex Building Inspections. In the message that I had depicted above. John call it as it is, and he does not get swayed by anyone; even though at times I would hear from my own realtors complain that he is too picky! Of which I question, whom are they working for, the seller or me!!!

As a propective buyer, I would rather have him on my side as he should, and not someone that is looking for a quick sale and move on to their next sale. He does his due diligence better than anyone I have met!

Sorry for the confusion as I did not state the service provided by! There are quite a few John's out there!!!

As on one of the purchases, we had to walk away because he uncovered water damage that the seller was covering up and would not address it. On another purchase, John got the seller to remmedy the water tank that was functional, yet it was on its last leg. But the best example yet, was that it was in the winter when we purchased our unit, he took his time to test out the AC system, to ensure that it was fully functional while others that I have dealt with would have taken the word of the seller or realtor.

As for his fees, some may comment on being on the high end, but he is definately worth every penny. As we have used him on at least 4 of our properties and our family has utilized his services on a few others!!!

WE highly recommend John for the great job that he does!!!

I highly recommend sergio at housemasters. We found him through a recommendation from our realtor. He did an amazingly thorough job on a house we bought in the heights and provided us with a complete point by point inspection report.

Going rate is $300. Go with John Estes or John Loscuadro.

Good luck!

Hi - want to revive this thread.

Any recommendations for good home inspectors? I see lots of recommendation for John Moss and John Estes. Any other good inspectors?

Also, what's the current going rate?

Thanks in advance...

I was very happy with John Estes (201-954-9894 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting              201-954-9894      end_of_the_skype_highlighting). He was very thorough, explained everything in detail and made me feel totally comfortable about proceeding with a contract.

Good luck!

Hi,
We recently had an offer accepted on a multi-family home in the Hamilton Park area. We are very interested in finding a really good home inspector.

If you have someone you can highly recommend, please let me know!

Thanks,
Patty

john moss is not very personable on the phone
i can agree with that but if you want a quality inspection and someone that is not in bed with the realtors to move the property. he's your guy. does a very thorough job and is on buyer's side for sure. he'll point out a lot of stuff to you so you can make an informed decision. his personality is not the best but he is good at his job. he is more friendly in person though...

Thanks you all for good suggestion.

I am not care about the fee. I only care about is the home inspection service good or not.

I have never met John Moss, but spoken with him over the phone. I had a few questions and wanted to ask him, but he seemed very unhappy to answer the question and not willing to answer the questions. That's my big concern......

I was thinking to choose his service because I saw a few people recommended him. However, his attitued becomes a big concern for me...... Thus, I have no idea about him.... Feel like he is different people as above talking about......

Whatever, thanks you all suggestion. I am just looking for a good home inspector, not really concern fee.

Tino, if you're moving into Crescent Court, not yet a known quantity for local inspectors, the price may be a littler higher. Just a guess.

Thanks Moxie - I wasn't really commenting on the price, more that he was looking for a referral name... wasn't sure if anyone wanted to take credit. Thanks for the advice

JC2010, I would describe his manner as "matter of fact" rather than rude, but I like my people on the crusty side, so its up to you. In person, I found him to be appropriate, but not over-indulgent about my first-time buyer neurosis. He provided an objective and accurate point of view about my condo and the common spaces, and gave me the report the next morning, so that the few minor but necessary fixes he recommended could be addressed right away. The fee was cheaper 2 years ago for a 1200 sq ft apt, so if the price isn't right for you, maybe you'll find someone just as good for less elsewhere.
