Yes, I knew that, but hoped an 11 dollar t - con board would solve it, but it has to be LED(s) - since I saw a flash on the corner of the TV when it went black. Oh well, just purchased LG UHD4K Smart TV 43 inch for 299 and it works great.

Sorry to hear that - did you look at it with a strong flashlight to the front to see if you were getting picture but just no LEDs?

Great - hope it works! Keep in mind that when buying a board it helps to take photos of your exact board and match it up - get exact same board number ( exact same connectors ) - because sometimes manufacturers change components mid production of the given model TV.

These $500 displays are made to be disposable.

I ordered a used t-con from Pittsburgh, will replace and see if that works, cost is only 11 dollars. If it does not - it's LED and I cannot do that myself, and will be not worth it, meaning --- look for super bowl tv deals.

Try a strong flashlight from the front and see if the picture is still faintly there - if so the led is the problem and might be fixable with settings - though unlikely. Look online and on youtube for help for your exact model number.

If it needs a board buy it used on ebay -- or try this seller..

Sadly, sometimes paying for repairs just isn't worth it on items in that price range. I've fixed dryers, ranges and dishwashers myself, but a few weeks ago paid a repairman to fix a basic topload washer for $150. 2 week later it crapped out for good, he said it wasn't what he fixed. Dead. So I got on Craigslist and bought a used one for $50. I had to move it myself, but see the idea? I doubt you'd pay less than $200 for any kind of TV service, and you'd probably have to bring it to them.

I follow that advice for rentals with simple 18 ft units, but I do not believe they make "computer free" in side by side with through the door ice & water.

I'll never buy a Samsung product again, my 10 year old Samsung fridge is on it's 3rd motherboard and is rusting out around the ice dispenser.

Avoid fridge problems buy a dial controlled appliance. The computer board's only purpose is for the digital display and controls. The condenser and compressor will still operate without the bells and whistles. A bad board is like a bad fuse it acts as a go between. My GE Profile had a bad board the new one was a modified version, so I protested about the change got a break on the repair, I also put a claim into loss prevention for the spoiled food got another break, and along with a partial warranty the cost went from $400 to $170.

True. Most times, the repair could be DIY. Replacing resistors and capacitors is often trivial, and they can be sourced for next to nothing. But, if the LED panel itself is fried, the repair could end up costing the same as a new TV. Once my current living room TV dies (probably in the next year or two) I will end up getting something new. The other Sony panel in the apartment has worked really well, boasts the same size, has a ton more features, and its cost was substantially less.

If your TV is not hanging from the wall, you could place a small fan discreetly behind it to keep it from overheating. I've done such successfully for TVs, computers, and printers.

Had similar (same?) issue with a Sony display some years ago. It happened within a year or two of ownership but, luckily, it was a Costco purchase, so the repair was free.

As I remember it, the panel would overheat (turns out the vivid setting, or any picture settings combination that involves using high contrasts and brightness, results in too much heat being generated) and after extended usage, the panel essentially burnt out. The repairman brought a new one and swapped it. It was a super quick fix, but disappointing that TVs advertised to be able to display "blacker" blacks, or praised for the vividness of their picture, are unable to do so for long periods without dying. Six years later (four after the repair) the TV is still going, but during Summer months, it will sometimes overheat and shuts off.
