But the fact is that my grandma would think that a lot of things are "too loud" and my nephew would think that a lot of things are "not loud enough", hence the decibel measurement. if you think the code needs to change that's one thing, but you can't set one establishmet up with different rules than the rest, even if they are the only ones presently bothering you.

I dunno, even if it is within the ordinance, I don't see why they have to have it so loud. A friend who was walking with me agreed that it was pretty loud. I don't think I would be alone in that opinion.

I don't think that's how it works. JC already has noise ordinances. If South House is violating them, then (afaik) they can get fined. If it's within legal limits but too loud for patrons, they will get a lot of complaints from the patrons to turn it down.

I genuinely hope that South house succeeds. However, this evening when I walked past there, their outside music was blaring loud. Fortunately, I do not live on Newark Ave. But I don't think their outside loud music is fair to the people who do live in the area.
I've gone inside the place twice thinking about getting dinner, but opted not to stay because their indoor music is too loud. It's a patron's choice if they want to dine in a restaurant where they can't hold a conversation. If they could draw a crowd then good for them. However, they need to be better neighbors and should not be blaring their music so loud. If there is ever an initiative to get them to stop their loud music I will certainly be behind it. There is certainly no reason for the restaurant to be blaring outside music. I think it's sort of tacky.
