"Cell phone and charger"

Make sure you have a car charger for the phone. If things are that bad, power will probably be out, if not cell service itself.

It's one of those things.....it seems kind of crazy, and even funny but I bet if something were to happen and you actually were prepared you would be very glad you did it. So, I am going to make one for my family!

I just spoke to a vendor in California who has a great website for emergency kits and supplies that are pre-packed and ready to go.

And he also has kits for pet owners, too.

Check out www.LivingFresh.com or call 714-530-3777. Ask for Joe Branin.

Good advice.

I call it the bug out bag. This is a good time to check it.

Wasn't sure where to post this. General Discussion or the Safety part.

In light of what happened in Haiti just on Tuesday and back with Katrina and on 9/11...

I think its an important reminder. Please have a survival kit or "Go BAG" at your home with an action plan if you are a family.

This should include:

* Water, one gallon of water per person per day for at least three days, for drinking and sanitation
* Food, at least a three-day supply of non-perishable food
* Battery-powered or hand crank radio and a NOAA Weather Radio with tone alert and extra batteries for both
* Flashlight and extra batteries
* First aid kit
* Whistle to signal for help
* Dust mask, to help filter contaminated air and plastic sheeting and duct tape to shelter-in-place
* Moist towelettes, garbage bags and plastic ties for personal sanitation
* Wrench or pliers to turn off utilities
* Can opener for food (if kit contains canned food)
* Local maps
* Cell phone with chargers

I have one that I did after 9/11. But the thing is you have to refresh this on an annual basis. Water, food, etc. I will be revisiting my own now because of this disaster.

For more information go to www.ready.gov or also redcross.com

Do this and put it away. Never know what will happen.

Public service announcement.
