I've been in the area many times in that time frame - it's really not that bad or isolated. The Egyptian restaurant on the corner up the street from the fire house is pretty good, too.

There was a murder in an apartment over the hardware store (across from the supermarket) some years ago - a dreadful domestic argument that took the life of a young mother.

I witnessed someone die in that parking lot from a gunshot to the head back when it was Shoprite, but that was 25 years ago.

I hope the neighborhood is better now than when I lived there.

The area is safer since that shady liquor store closed, but it's a lot harder to get a 40 and a bottle of jack at 3 am. Give-and-take, I suppose.

I used to go there in an emergency when I lived up there. I guess it's okay if you can stand that overpowering meat smell.

It was foul, and I am definitely not a vegetarian.

Is this area safe at night, say 9~11pm? What about parking? Need to go there for the next few weeks.

Thanks,
