I found this topo map with Jersey City on it online! Fun to know your elevation and your latitude and longitude right down to the second: http://www.trails.com/topo.aspx?lat=4 ... on=-74.09419&s=100&size=s

Yes, it does look earlier. I saw the tanks at the gulf station, but it looks like they are the old ones removed, not the new ones recently installed.

It's been updated to a current image. The last time I looked at it, the image dated from when the Goldman tower was under construction.
It now looks to have been taken within the past week (based on the state of construction at the Gulf station at 12th and Manila).

It would be nice if Google maps updated it's imagery for new buildings and demolition. Downtown is missing all new construction from the past six years. No wonder the census neglected to mail forms to some of the new residential buildings! If it's not on Google it doesn't exist, I guess.
Letter writing campaign to Google to ask them to update??

Google Maps Has Added Earth View For Jersey City

Google Maps has added Earth View which allows you to see an address in three dimensions.
The closer you zoom in, the flatter buildings and objects become. Pretty cool. I tried it for 112 New York Avenue; 122 Newark Avenue; 2200 John F. Kennedy Boulevard and 375 7th Street. Clicking on the pin gives you an option to see the address in street view (where available). Requires the Google Earth View plug in to be installed.

HopStop is a good site.
I think google has always (or at least for the last year or so) have had the station icons on the map (when you zoom in you can see the name of the station and all the connections), but this must be a new feature to have the lines drawn on the map as well... Looks very cool

I've been using HopStop for this for a long time now. It's surprisngly accurate with the time estimates. I guess the monster known as Google will suck the air out of that website now...

NYC transit added to Google's map service
By JENNIFER PELTZ ? 4 hours ago NEW YORK (AP) ? Google has added the nation's biggest public transportation system to its popular mapping service, showing travelers how to navigate New York City's mass transit system. As of Tuesday, people looking up locations in the city get public transit options alongside driving directions. The feature includes information about subways, buses and commuter railroads. New York's Metropolitan Transportation Authority and some other organizations already provide transit trip planners, but Google executives note that their version is integrated with other search features, such as street views and restaurant reviews. Google, the world's largest search engine, offers transit information in about 70 other cities worldwide, including Chicago and Tokyo. The Mountain View, Calif.-based company worked for two years to add 40,000 subway stations, bus stops and other points on the New York metropolitan area's mass transportation network, executives said. "It's just a huge volume of routes and data," co-founder Sergey Brin said. The MTA provided data but no money for the effort, which comes as the agency projects a $900 million deficit next year. Transit officials are hoping to plug the gap by raising fares and tolls, but also say they may have to cut service. More than 8.5 million riders use the MTA's subway, bus and rail lines on an average weekday.
