Just last week, Harrison Ford was involved in an incident that nearly became a fatal plane crash. In an act that would disappoint his very own Han Solo, Ford flew his private plane directly over an aircraft with 110 passengers. He was supposed to land his plane on a specific runway, but proceeded to land on the taxiway. https://youtu.be/Nw_GasRX74Y

Why don't you read some jackASS -- they mention vastly more than 6 accidents and who needs dangerous suburbanite joy riders and news copters endlessly flying around.

Ha ha ha! You are so pitiful sometimes... 6 links to accidents over a 20 year span. Meanwhile, EVERY DAY there are car accidents, and often serious injuries and even deaths from those accidents. Where is your rage at the carnage heaped upon innocent victims and unsuspecting drivers, cyclists, pedestrians, motorcyclists, etc at the hands of careless drivers, drunks, etc?? Why not ban any and all motor vehicles? Your irrational fear of a minuscule risk is downright laughable.

Okay, and...? That's one small-plane crash over 10 years ago. That sounds like the definition of "rare."

Manhattan Plane Crash Kills Yankee Pitcher
New York Times OCT. 12, 2006 Firefighters looked at the wreckage of the plane that crashed into a building on East 72nd Street, rattling nerves all over the Upper East Side with unwelcome reminders of other planes and other buildings. A single-engine plane carrying the Yankees pitcher Cory Lidle smashed into a 42-story building on the Upper East Side yesterday, killing Mr. Lidle and his flight instructor, the authorities said. The afternoon crash beneath overcast skies sent debris clattering hundreds of feet to the sidewalk and started a fire that destroyed several apartments and left a charred smudge on the face of the building. Fourteen firefighters and four people in the building were injured, officials said, including a woman who had been in an apartment hit squarely by the plane and escaped the inferno, suffering burns. The plane left Teterboro, in Bergen County, at 2:29 p.m., officials said. http://www.nytimes.com/2006/10/12/nyregion/12crash.html

You are the biggest Chicken Little on JClist. Shit happens and you freak out whether it's statistically significant or not. Do you ever ride an in a car? Cars are many times more dangerous than flying. Where's your movement to ban cars?

Luckily, smarter people with more command of common sense and logic are actually in charge and people like GrovePath will continue to whine and complain to no avail. General aviation has a long, rich history, and it is one of the great privileges of our country. it is also a very important cog in local and regional economies. It is unfortunate that an accident happened, but it was just that: an accident. Those who call for planes and helicopters to be banned because of the potential risk of accidents are the ultimate hypocrites: cars (and their drivers) are much more likely to be involved in accidents, and do cause daily damage and losses, of both property and life. By their logic, all cars should be banned.

Yeah... no Crashes in urban areas are exceedingly rare. Small planes are not a serious threat to safety. I mean, really. Before this, when was the last time a small private plane crashed in Hudson County? We can do more to make private flights safer, but banning flights over urban areas is completely unrealistic, and not a helpful suggestion.

They have to ban joy riding small planes and helicopters from the dense urban areas - this was a flight school -- and Airshows are even worse
